THE FIAT DUCATO-BASED TRAKKA TORINO IS THE MOST INNOVATIVE MOTOR HOME IN AUSTRALIA
The Trakka Torino, the new motor home based on the advanced Fiat Ducato, has been voted the most innovative motor home available in Australia.
Taking the prize for the most innovative new product in the Caravan & Camping Industry of NSW 2003 Excellence Awards, the judges praised the Trakka Torino for a new level of design excellence and performance that has been made possible by the combination of Trakka’s motor home expertise and the advanced technology and design integrity of the Fiat Ducato.
“Our aim was to produce a compact vehicle that combined the practicality and driving experience of a car with the full specification of a larger motorhome,” says Dave Berry, Managing Director of Trakka. “We have spent two years developing and testing the Torino which was the first Australian motor home to use the Fiat Ducato, which accounts of 75 per cent of European motor homes.”
The Torino successfully offers the full specification of a motorhome including bathroom and shower facilities in a vehicle just 5.6m long. This allows it to be parked in a standard car park space.It is able to do this because it has a walkthrough cab and utilises swivelling front cab seats that become part of the lounge area. The Torino conforms to Australian Design Rules and is certified to carry five people with clearly defined areas designated for washing, cooking, relaxing and sleeping. With the highly advanced Fiat 2.8 litre JTD direct injection common rail turbo diesel under the bonnet, the Torino also offers a unique combination of performance and economy.
The award for the Torino was not Trakka’s only award at Caravan & Camping Industry of NSW 2003 Excellence Awards. The Sydney-based company was also elected the Best retailer and manufacturer of the Year and, demonstrating their devotion to the industry, Trakka was also presented with the award for the company most committed to training.
“The TrakkaTorino offers incredible style, design and a specification that goes way beyond the industry standard making it the public image of what we strive for at Trakka,” says Mr Berry. “But the awards for training, manufacturing and retailing are the awards of which we are the most proud. They demonstrate that we excel in every facet of our business and that is something that benefits all our customers. This is something in which our all staff can take great pride at their achievements.”
