LOCATION: / Various (Limerick Region, Midlands Region, Dublin North, Dublin South, Wicklow, Cavan Monaghan, Louth & Meath)
EXTERN CONTACT: / Service Manager
WORK RESPONSIBILITIES: / To provide support to various Projects in the delivery of services as and when required.
To facilitate a range of individualised and group work programmes for medium to high risk young people in partnership with key statutory providers
To work at all times within the context of:
(a)  Extern’s vision, mission and values;
(b) Extern’s Standards;
(c) Extern’s Child Protection Policy;
(d) The requirements of contracts and service level agreements with commissioning and funding partners.

Section 2: Role Description

1. Managing risk: risk management at the core of practice and management

The Bank Worker will:

1.2  Be responsible for carrying out their role to highest possible standard in line with Extern’s guidance on best practice and child protection policy.

1.3 Maintain appropriate records of all contact with allocated young

Person(s) in accordance with Extern policy and legal requirements.

1.4 Liaise with Extern contact regarding practice and undertake

relevant training highlighted.

1.5 To risk assess each planned activity and have these approved

by Project Manager.

1.6 To facilitate activities in line with Extern’s approved centre list.

2. Managing quality: providing quality services

The Bank Worker will:

2.1 Be responsible for own practice ensuring compliance with Extern codes of practice and standards.

2.2 Assist in work with identified clients in a programme that may involve activity sessions, group and individual work with young people and families.

2.3 Effectively plan and manage their own work.

2.4 Continuously evaluate practice with Extern contact.

2.5 Work in partnership with referring officers, service users, voluntary providers and their families/carers to ensure the changing needs of those individuals referred to the service are responded to.

2.6 Ensure feedback is sought from referring agents, staff, service users and their families/carers, about the service provided.

3. Managing resources: people, money and information

The Bank Worker may:

3.1 Assist in the effective management and use of petty cash budget by ensuring all expenditure is receipted and recorded accordingly in line with Extern policy.

3.2 Identify personal learning and development needs and liaise with Extern contact to address these areas.

4 Managing communications: internal and external communication

The Bank Worker will:

4.1 Represent Extern responsibly and productively in all settings.

4.2 Represent Extern to the highest professional standards.

4.3 Ensure your own communication with others is always appropriate, clear and concise and maintains the confidentiality of information gained during the course of your work (unless by doing so there is a risk to personal safety, the safety of others or an obvious breach of the law in which case this must be highlighted to the Service Manager).

5. Miscellaneous

The Bank Worker will:

Section 3: Person specification

1.  Qualifications/Experience

1.1  Essential Criteria

·  A minimum pass level D in 5 Leaving Cert subjects including English & Maths) or equivalent qualification e.g. FETAC Level 5 in a relevant subject e.g. child care/youth work.

·  Must have a minimum of one years’ relevant, cumulative experience in a paid and/or voluntary capacity of direct work with high risk young people (Hardiker Levels 2,3 and 4) aged 8-18 years, within a structured environment e.g. residential setting, youth project or social work/care, etc.

·  Full driving licence and access to use of a car, with relevant business insurance to undertake driving duties.

1.2 Desirable Criteria

·  Hold a Professional Qualification in Social Work, Youth & Community Work, Social Care or related Social Science discipline.
