Exporting for Growth prize competition: Terms and Conditions
1. The competition is open to North East-based SMEs who have a trading address within the Middlesbrough Borough Council boundaries, paying business rates to MBC. To be considered for entry applicants must be eligible for UKTI services and be an SME according to the EU definition.
2. UKTI, reserve the right to refuse to accept the entry of any that it feels does not meet the criteria and rules of the competition. Also UKTI reserve the right to limit the number of eligible companies which may compete where the number of applications is exceptionally high.
3. The competition will be open to entries from 7 April 2014 to 6 June 2014. No entries received after that date shall have automatic right of entry into the competition but UKTI reserve the right to admit entries received late in exceptional circumstances.
4. Entries to the competition must be made and sent in the required format using the application form provided on the website or via your local UKTI team including your International Trade Adviser. No proof of dispatch shall be deemed evidence of receipt. A summary of the export idea exceeding 200 words may be considered ineligible.
5. Entry into the competition through the submission of an application shall be deemed to be made in accordance and in acceptance of these rules in full and without exception.
6. UKTI reserves the right to publicise the competition through normal channels, in all forms, for the duration of the competition and for a period of 12 months thereafter. UKTI reserves the right to film and photograph for media use. No confidential details shall be included in the publicity material.
7. UKTI undertakes to use all reasonable efforts to secure the confidentiality of information supplied by those entering the competition within the framework of the competition itself. Information supplied in submissions to the competition, including that contained in the summary of the business proposition in the application form will only be made available to parties and partner organisations directly involved in the assessment of those plans under agreement of non-disclosure and under the DPA.

9. Each contestant selected retains responsibility for the confidential nature of the information supplied. In supplying this information to the competition it is accepted that this information will be made available to persons over whom UKTI has no direct legal authority but who have signed a non-disclosure agreement for the purposes of providing mentoring or business support to presenters at the event.
10. Please note the onus is on each competition entrant to confirm that they (i) have obtained any necessary DPA consents from people identified in their entry and (ii) that their DPA notification to the Information Commissioner covers them for using personal data when participating in the competition.
11. UKTI can accept no responsibility for the security of the information supplied to them other than as stated within these rules.
12. UKTI reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions from time to time by posting an updated version on the UKTI website.
