OUTLOOK EXPRESS EMAIL ACCOUNT SETUP
FOR USE WITH ELLIPSE ADVANCED SPAM FILTER
*PLEASE NOTE* Specific information such as email servers, usernames, email addresses, and passwords should have already been provided to you by Ellipse. Please contact us before beginning, if you do not have this information.

  1. Start by opening Outlook Express.
  2. Click on “Tools” on the top toolbar, and click “Accounts” on the drop down menu.

  1. Click on the “Add” button and select “Mail...”

  1. In the “Internet Connection Wizard” window, fill in the name to be displayed with this e-mail account into the “Display name:” field. The name you enter is the name that people will see when you send out an email. Click the “Next” button..

  1. Fill in the e-mail address for this account into the “E-mail address:” field. Then click the “Next” button.

  1. Select POP3 from the “My incoming mail server is a ” field.
    In the “Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server:” and “Outgoing mail (SMTP) server:” fields enter “mail.<domain.com>” but replace <domain.com> with your property website domain. For example, if your property was abc.com, you would enter mail.abc.com.
    Click the “Next” button..

  1. Next, fill in the “Account name: ” field with your e-mail address and the “Password:” field with the password for your e-mail account. Enable/check the “Remember password” field and uncheck the “Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)” field. Then click the “Next” button.

  1. Click the “Finish” button to return to the “Internet Accounts ” window, and proceed to the instructions (below) to finish configuring your outgoing mail server settings.
  1. Return to the Internet Accounts window following the previous steps 1 and 2 if needed.
    Make sure your email account is highlighted, (it should be named after your incoming mail server, for example mail.example.com,) and click the “Properties” button.
  1. The window that appears will be named according to your incoming mail server, for example “mail.example.com Properties.” Click the second tab which is labeled “Servers.” In this tab, under “Outgoing Mail Server,” check the checkbox that says “My server requires authentication,” and click the “Settings” button.
  1. Make sure the option “Use same settings as my incoming mail server” is selected, and click “OK.”
  1. Click the “Advanced” tab. For “Outgoing mail (SMTP):” change the number in the textbox from 25 to 587. Click the “Apply” button, and then the “OK” button. You will be taken back to the “Internet Accounts” window.
  1. In the “Internet Accounts” window, click the “Close” button. You will be returned to the main window of Outlook Express. Your email is now set up and ready to use. Please contact Ellipse immediately at 888-678-3869 if you experience any problems with this set up or with accessing your email.
