The Effects of Illegal Immigration in the Usaby Claire

Is illegal immigration hurting America? Are illegal immigrants really taking up all of the available jobs? Are illegal immigrants paying taxes? Questions like the ones stated

above constantly bother most Americans who are concerned about the current economic status of America.

America unlike many countries believes in freedom, rights and individual opinions. Anyone living in the United States of America is very fortunate. America is a lot better off than most other countries. In America we are not forced to cover our bodies with different clothes to hide ourselves. In America we have the freedom to make our own choices. In America we have the right to voice our opinion without getting shot for it. We have those rights and freedoms, but who is to say that everyone else does not deserve the exact same rights? Why is it that when others seek freedom they are looked down upon because they are trying to better themselves and their families? Why can't they be the same, and why can't be the better person and realize they are just trying to survive also.

A textbook called Racial and Ethnic Groups by Richard T. Schaefer states that on average in 2002, Illegal Immigrants were sending over $40 Billion Dollars to their home countries each year. That is more than the USA could ever give to foreign aid. On top of that in 2005, the Social Security Administration identified many workers contributing to about $7 Billion dollars that they had left over from people that could not file their taxes...AKA Illegal Immigrants. Those monies went right back into our economy. From the same text studies also suggest that at least 70% of all illegal immigrants pay taxes, however, they do not file their income tax refunds because they will get deported. Therefore, we have that $7 Billion that goes directly to America's companies, businesses, land, state facilities, etc.

Instead of the US having to send foreign aid to their countries to help them, the illegal immigrants have taken it upon themselves to send monies to their home countries. On average immigrants in the United States send about $40 Billion dollars to their home countries a year. That completely blows what America would do for them out of the water. Instead of America just having to give the money to them to help them out, they have workers over here who are sending it back, therefore, that money that we get to keep goes back into our economy also.

I am not an activist or anything of the sort, however, I am letting everyone know that there are different views on everything. The being of bias and racism is fear. Don't be afraid to look at others with an open mind and have the courage to call them friend.
