The Edna and Ben Gould Memorial Scholarship

in Women’s and Gender Studies

This scholarship was established in 2008 by Linda Gould Levine (former WMGS Director, 1994-2000) in loving memory of her parents. The scholarship, in the amount of $250, will be awarded annually to a Women’s and Gender Studies major or Women’s and Gender Studies minor who meets all of the following criteria:

·  Is a full-time student at MSU

·  Has completed 15 credits in Women’s and Gender Studies at the time of application

·  Is in good academic standing at MSU with a minimum 3.0 gpa at the time of application

·  Will remain enrolled in the Women’s and Gender Studies program at MSU

·  Has demonstrated financial need.

[Note: Students in the GLBTQ Studies minor are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.]

The scholarship will be awarded at the end of spring semester for use in the subsequent fall semester.

Application Information

Students will need to submit the following to be considered for the scholarship:

1.  A completed application form (see attached)

2.  A brief personal essay on the significance of the WMGS major or minor to the student (250-300 words in length)

3.  A statement about financial need for the scholarship.

An ad-hoc scholarship committee, comprised of two WMGS faculty and the WMGS Director, will review the materials submitted by student applicants.

Dissemination of information to students: The Women’s and Gender Studies program will advertise the scholarship on the WMGS list-serve, through announcements in WMGS classes, and by posting the information on the WMGS webpage and in hard copy on the WMGS bulletin boards in Dickson Hall.

Application deadline: Application materials should be submitted to the WMGS office, DI-120 or email to Viviana (), no later than 2pm on Tuesday April 23rd. The scholarship recipient will be announced no later than the final day of classes for spring semester.
