Coastal Carolina Clean Power Scholarship
I. General Information
Coastal Carolina Clean Power has established a one-time scholarship to be awarded to a graduating senior from East Duplin High School, James Kenan High School and Wallace-Rose Hill High School who plans to further his/her education. The scholarship recipient will be chosen based on career plans and commitment to “green energy”.
The scholarship will be for a value of $1,000 to each recipient from the named high schools. Once the student has been selected for the scholarship, the student must complete the Scholarship Verification form and send copies to the Education Foundation and the attending college. Upon verification of enrollment by the college/community college, the Foundation will submit payment in the amount $1,000 to the college/community college for each student.
II. Application Procedures:
1. Any senior graduating from East Duplin High School, James Kenan High School and Wallace-Rose Hill High School who meets the criteria may make application. Applications for the Coastal Carolina Clean Power Scholarship may be obtained from the school principal, school counselor or online at www.duplinschools.net.
2. The application must be completed and returned to the principal or school counselor by the set deadline.
3. Student’s interest in “green energy” and desire to make a positive impact on the environment in the future will be a major consideration no matter the anticipated career field. Rank in class, overall grades and participation in extra-curricular activities may also be considered.
4. Two letters of recommendation must accompany the application when it is submitted. A relative may not provide a letter of recommendation.
a. One letter should be from an individual who is not school connected and possibly a witness to the student’s commitment to environmental issues.
b. One letter should be from a teacher who taught the student during high school.
III. Selection Procedures:
