I further understand that the award is not guaranteed and any false representation by my child or me will result in forfeiture and/or denial of a possible scholarship award. I understand only the first 40 applications in each grade category received by the deadline will be reviewed. The deadline is June 14, 2013 11:59 p.m. Awards will be presented at the Friday July 5, 2013 STEM Fair Celebration at Morgan State University.

Identify a problem in your community that has a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) related solution. Develop a 300 - 500 word essay identifying how you will use STEM to develop a solution for this problem.

In your solution, consider or focus on one of the following:

  1. Describe how the use of STEM will impact the lives of people in your community. How will it save time, money or resources?
  2. Describe how the use of STEM will improve efficiency in an area in your community.
  3. Describe how the use of STEM will change a challenge within your community into an opportunity.

Minimum Requirements

Applicant must be in current grade level as of June 2013

Provide a diagram for the problem and the solution.

Describe the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math aspects of your solution. Expound upon your solution in one or more of the STEM areas.

Describe the implementation method for your solution within your community.

Describe how the solution will impact your future and the future of your community.

Must be typed, double spaced, 12 font

Must be grammatically correct

No spelling errors or typos
