Dear TDI Friends,

As many of you have heard, I have decided to retire from the practice of veterinary medicine. From this point forward, The Doctor’s Inn Pet Hospital and Boarding Kennel will concentrate on providing daytime and overnight dog and cat boarding, and will discontinue most medical and surgical care services.

This decision comes after 18 months of consideration.

Some of you may remember back to 1992-1993, when I provided veterinary services to you in your homes out of my Nissan pickup truck, or 1993-1994, when I did the same from my expanded Dodge mobile van. From 1994-2007, I served many of you and your pets at MurietaAnimalHospital in the RanchoMurietaPlaza, and in 2001 I opened a boarding kennel at our present location on Jackson Road near Grantline Road. In 2007 I moved the hospital from Rancho Murieta to the kennel location and have been seeing you and your pets in a combined veterinary hospital and kennel ever since.

It has been a pleasure providing veterinary services to your sick and healthy pets all these years. Many of you have become great friends, and I have appreciated the opportunities to know you and talk with you and be involved in your decision-making regarding your pets’ health and happiness. I feel honored to have had your support, trust and commitment to me and my practice.

But after 24 years, with veterinary medicine changing rapidly and me being a little worn out by the daily grind, I’ve decided that now is the time to hang up my stethoscope and move on to new endeavors.

My plans for the future include the continued operation and management of the boarding kennel aspect of The Doctor’s InnPetHospital and Boarding Kennel. In fact, I plan to convert the main hospital building back into a livable house and move there with my family. I intend to nurture, improve, and expand the boarding kenneland hope to continue seeing you and your pets for those services there. Specific plans in the offing for the kennel are exercise yard expansion, improved landscaping and pet exercise facilities, in-home pet-sitting, providing various retail products, and professional grooming services. Many of you know Gabe and Veronica (“Vinnie”), who will together manage and operate the kennel on a day to day basis.

Regarding medical services, The Doctor’s InnPetHospital and Boarding Kennel will cease scheduling non-vaccination appointments for sick or well pets. We will no longer provide animal examinations, surgeries, anesthetic procedures, major laboratory services, XRAY or hospitalization.

We will, however, continue to provide vaccinations for healthy pets under our popular “Techvax” program. Additionally, we will offer basic laboratory services such as heartworm, feline leukemia, feline AIDS, and parasite testing. Non-prescription products like flea control, shampoos and many retail items will be available. Many prescription medications such as heartworm preventives, (some newer) flea control products, anti-inflammatories, heartworm preventives, de-wormers, specialty diets, and meds for chronic conditions, etc. will also be available for pets for at least a year past the date of the pet’s last physical exam at The Doctor’s Inn Pet Hospital and Boarding Kennel.

Your pet’smedical record for the past three years will be kept, maintained and made available to you (via email) upon your request. Additionally, vaccine and other reminders will continue to be sent to the address we have on file. Should you desire summaries or copies of the record, simply call the office at 916-681-2252, or email us at , to make the request and inform us where you would like the record sent. We will be happy to email it to you in a timely fashion.
