Job Description

The Director, Enforcement is responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing strategies, policies and procedures to enable the effective enforcement of compliance with the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Terrorism Financing Act 2006 and the Financial Transaction Reports Act 1988;
  • Providing high level leadership, including the effective management of the work of the Enforcement section to deliver agreed outcomes;
  • Ensuring the efficient operation of the Enforcement Committee, including through the provision of secretariat services by the Enforcement section;
  • Taking responsibility for establishing, modelling and monitoring the professional work standards and behaviours detailed in the APS Values and Code of Conduct;
  • Representing AUSTRAC in external forums and in liaison with external stakeholders as required;
  • Contributing to the achievement of wider agency business and strategic goals;
  • Reporting through the Executive General Manager, Operations and General Manager, Compliance; and
  • Exercising approved delegations in accordance with legal and other requirements.

Consider the impact of the operations of the business unit on other AUSTRAC business units, the whole of government agenda and other stakeholders.

Foster the team by delegating, encouraging, praising, supporting, motivating, empowering and dealing swiftly with underperformance.
