QUALIFICATIONS:1.MASTERS DEGREE OR CPA.

2.POSSESS OR BE ELIGIBLE FOR CHIEF BUSINESS OFFICIAL CERTIFICATION AS REQUIRED BY MICHIGAN DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION.

  1. EXPERIENCE IN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION WORK AND FAMILIARITY WITH MICHIGAN PUBLIC SCHOOL ACCOUNTING.
  2. THREE YEARS OR MORE OF SUCCESSFUL EXPERIENCE IN ONE OF THE ABOVE FIELDS, AND AT LEAST TWO ADDITIONAL YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN A SUPERVISORY CAPACITY.
  3. ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE WITH PEOPLE, VERBALLY AND IN WRITTEN FORM.
  4. POSSESS LEADERSHIP QUALITIES AND ABILITY TO WORK WITH STAFF.
  5. EXPERIENCE WITH INTEGRATED COMPUTER SYSTEMS.

SUPERVISOR:BAY-ARENAC ISD SUPERINTENDENT

JOB GOAL:To provide control for all the financial and accounting functions of the District. District-wide responsibility for budgets, accounting, debt management, investments and funding of all programs in accordance with generally accepted accounting and auditing principles for a Michigan Public School.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assumes responsibility for the receipt, expenditure and record keeping of school district funds.
  2. Assists budget managers with the preparation and implementation of annual budgets.
  3. Prepares reports for the proper staff official concerning the status of his/her budget.
  4. Prepares projections of revenue and expenditures, budget vs. actual.
  5. Assists with short term investments for the school districts.
  6. Arranges for audits of all accounts and records annually by an independent, certified public accountant selected by the Board of Education.
  7. Administers a continuous internal auditing program for all funds.
  8. Recommends new accounting, budgeting and financing methods that may be desirable and necessary.
  9. Meets with Boards of Education on a monthly basis if required.
  10. Administers and supervises the Accounting and Payroll Departments and designates procedures for all financial records of employees.
  11. Insures adequate cash flow to meet ongoing cash needs.
  12. Oversees the completion of monthly, quarterly and yearly financial State and Federal reports and claims appropriate reimbursement on these programs.
  13. Supervises the preparation and maintenance of all ledgers of the School Districts.
  14. Assists with short term borrowing.
  15. Advises Superintendents regarding business personnel and procedures.
  16. Oversees the preparation of reports for fringe benefits, utility consumption and costs, personnel wages, etc.
  17. Oversees Pupil Accounting Function.

SALARY 2015-2016:BAISD Administrative Salary Schedule. Dependent upon candidate’s educational and experience background.
