Please note: Students entering into the program who consequently experience personal or professional issues that mean they are unable to complete the 6-8weeks of research need to discuss the matter with their supervisor as soon as possible. The Faculty reserves the right to recover monies where the program is not completed without adequate reasons.

The Dean’s Summer Research Scholarships 2017/18

Information

The Faculty of Science, Engineering & Technology will be awarding scholarships of $2,000 each to allow students to work in a research group for a period of 6 to 8 weeks during the 2017/18 summer period.

Scholarship participants will work alongside their supervisor and graduate research students to gain experience in identifying and solving research problems. This experience will provide the student with excellent preparation for future Honours and Postgraduate programs.

To be eligible to apply, students must have a Grade Point Average of 5.5 or more and have completed at least one full year of study in a science, technology, engineering or mathematics related degree and in a discipline relevant to the School or Research Centre they are seeking a placement.

To apply for this scholarship students must first identify a suitable project and supervisor through discussions with academic staff, and then have the project and supervision approved before submitting the application. Successful applicants will be offered a place in the Bachelor of Philosophy or Bachelor of General Studies and will be enrolled in the relevant Research Experience Program unit to acknowledge the commitment students make in this excellent program.

International students from external universities will need to ensure that they have a current visa to cover the period of enrolment if successful with the application.

The deadline for receipt of applications is Friday 27October 2017. Applicants will be notified by mid of December 2017.
