Culture

We can be proud of many Czech music composers. The best known is probably Antonín Dvořák, who lived in the USA for many years. Other composers are Leoš Janáček who wrote The Cunning Little Vixen, or Bedřich Smetana who wrote many operas, such as The Bartered Bride, Libuše, and others. Many of them are performed in the most renowned opera houses on a regular basis.

We had also many important scientists, for example Jaroslav Heyrovský who was awarded Nobel Prize for the invention of polarography, then many sportsmen, such as Emil Zátopek, an athlete who won the Olympic Games.

Nowadays, there are many successful sportsmen, hockey and tennis players representing the CzechRepublic abroad.
