Personally, I received 4.95 (out of 5) for expertise, 4.68 for clarity, 4.84 for presentation and 4.58 for inspiration in terms of personal evaluation (N=19). For the Organizing the GlobalEconomy lecture course (Spring 2014) held in English, I received 5 (out of 5) for expertise, 3.86 for clarity, 4.14 for presentation and 4.29 for inspiration in terms of personal evaluation (N=7/22). For the Introduction to public administration theory and research course (Spring 2014), I received 4.92 (out of 5) for expertise, 4.46 for clarity, 4.77 for presentation and 4.85 for inspiration in terms of personal evaluation (N=13/20). When teaching my international organisations course in Helsinki, I have always received an average of over four out of five for all my performances (2011: 4.36, N=14 respondents of 37 overall participants; 2010: 5, N=7/18). Especially the structure, pedagogical approach and the ability to make clear sense of complex theories have been praised in the surveys.

In the most recent evaluated seminar, the Bachelor’s seminar in the track of administration and organisations in political science in 2014, I received the average score of 4.78 (out of 5) for personal supervision performance, 4.67 for group supervision, 4.67 for inspiration, 4.89 for expertise, 4.44 for clarity, and 4.89 for presentation (N=9/12). 20 peer-reviewed scientific journal articles or book chapters (plus 1 in review process), 9 non-refereed scientific articles and working papers, 2 co-authored scientific monographs and one edited volume, 1 research report (1 forthcoming), dozens of non-scientific publications, and numerous papers presented at international and national conferences and seminars (see List of Publications). According to Google Scholar, my papers currently have in total 79 citations (31.3.2015, h-index 5, see Google Scholar citations profile:

I have been regularly communicating my research results to the media, policy-makers and professional audiences. My main international experience comes from editing a volume on politics of social risk in the Nordics for the Foundation for European Progressive Studies think tank, and the related book launch in Brussels (2012).

In the national context, my research has been promoted at the front page of Finnish Broadcasting Company and University of Helsinki websites. I’m a regular commentator in the Finnish media, especially in national TV (e.g. A-Studio) and radio programmes (e.g. Politiikkaradio, Ajantasa). I have contributed editorial and other articles to the Finnish mainstream media, including Helsingin Sanomat and TurunSanomat, and I have been interviewed for the main Finnish newspapers and magazines including the national (Helsingin Sanomat, Huvudstadsbladet), financial (Kauppalehti, Talouselämä), regional (Keskisuomalainen, KainuunSanomat) and political press (Vihreä Lanka, Kansan Uutiset, Demokraatti). I have also participated in various debates popularizing scientific research, including for example the Agora for Interdisciplinary Debates at the University of Helsinki, and I have given presentations at various research institute and think tank events, including for example those arranged by The Research Institute of Finnish Economy ETLA, Kalevi Sorsa Foundation, Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, and Left Forum Finland. I consulted the Finnish Broadcasting Company YLE journalists and two political parties on the financial crisis in 2008.

My strongest public presence has been among the Finnish pension professionals. I have given presentations at the Finnish pension professionals’ two key annual meetings (Työeläkepäivä and Keva-päivä) and the Hyvä Suomi 2020 programme. I also work as a columnist for the Työeläkemagazine, which is the most broadly distributed professional magazine in Finland. My research was cited in and I was interviewed as the only expert not employed within the pension system for the official evaluation of the governance of the Finnish earnings-related pension system.
