WhatisMentalHealthFirstAidCanada?

OneinthreeCanadianswillexperienceamentalhealthproblematsomepointintheirlife.The earlieraproblemisdetectedandtreated,thebettertheoutcome.MentalHealthFirstAid Canadagivespeopletheskillstoprovidethatearlyhelpthatissoimportantinrecovery.

MentalHealthFirstAid(MHFA)isthehelpprovidedtoapersondevelopingamentalhealth problemorexperiencingamentalhealthcrisis.Justasphysicalfirstaidisadministeredtoan injuredpersonbeforemedicaltreatmentcanbeobtained,MHFAisgivenuntilappropriate treatmentisfoundoruntilthecrisisisresolved.

TheMHFACanadaprogramaimstoimprovementalhealthliteracy,andprovidetheskillsand knowledgetohelppeoplebettermanagepotentialordevelopingmentalhealthproblemsin themselves,afamilymember,afriendoracolleague.

Theprogramdoesnotteachpeoplehowtobetherapists.Itdoesteachpeoplehowto:
