VACANCIES IN THE DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE, LIVESTOCK AND FISHERIES

  1. LIVESTOCK PRODUCTION ASSISTANT II JG ‘G’ (1POST) –PERMANENT & PENSIONABLE

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Collecting livestock data and information
  2. Accompanying Extension Teams during farm visits and farmer training

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Carrying out practical demonstration relating to livestock production;

  1. LIVESTOCK PRODUCTION OFFICER JG ‘K’ (4 POSTS) –PERMANENT & PENSIONABLE

Duties and Responsibilities:

Work under the guidance of a Senior Officer.

  1. Preparing livestock production information;
  2. Providing technical advice in animal production, livestockmarketing, rangemanagement, apiculture and ranching;
  3. Promoting economic livestock farming;
  4. Participating in organizing extension activities which include field days, agricultural shows, field demonstrations, farmer field schools and farm visits.
  5. Participating in collaborative research activities;
  6. Disseminating livestock production technologies such as construction of livestock housing and structures, milk production, pasture and fodder production and conservation, farm planning, gross margins analysis, on-farm feed formulation.
  7. Implementing livestock production programmes/projects in such areas as dairy cattle farming, beef cattle,sheep,goats,pigs,poultry,rabbits,camels,donkeys breeding programmes,fodder production and conservation, value addition to livestock products,apiculture,emerging livestock and other animal husbandry interventions;
  8. Capturing, maintaining and storing livestock data.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:-

  1. Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields:- Animal Science, Animal Production, Agriculture, Agribusiness, Range Management, Natural Resource Management, Livestock/Agricultural Economics, Dairy Technology, Or Agricultural Education and Extension from a recognized Institution;
  2. Certificate in compute applications.

  1. ANIMAL HEALTH ASSISTANT II JG ‘G’ (10 POSTS) – PERMANENT & PENSIONABLE

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Carrying out simple treatment of animals;
  2. Participating in disease search and reporting;
  3. Demonstrating on milking techniques and external parasite control techniques such as dipping, spraying and dusting;
  4. Carrying out vaccination;
  5. Underrating closed castrastion,dehorning,de-worming,disbudding,docking,debeaking and hoof trimming;

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:-

  1. A certificate not less than two(2) years in any of the following fields:- Animal Health, EnvironmentalHealth, Animal Health and Production from a recognized institution;
  2. Be registered by the Kenya Veterinary Board;
  3. Certificate in computer applications’ from a recognized institution;
  4. Certificate in Artificial Insemination from a recognized institution; and Certificate in Veterinary Public Health or Meat Technology (Candidates with these will have an added advantage);
  5. Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
  1. ASSISTANT ANIMAL HEALTH OFFICER III JG ‘H’ (1 POST) – PERMANENT & PENSIONABLE

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Participating in animal heal field demonstrations and agricultural shows;
  2. Participating in sample collection and dispatch;
  3. Inspecting livestock ,stock routes;
  4. Collecting data and writing technical reports;
  5. Demonstrating and training on milking techniques and external parasite control techniques such as dipping, spraying and dusting;
  6. Carrying out vaccination;
  7. Closed castration,dehorning,eartagging,disbudding,docking,debeaking and hoof trimming;
  8. Carrying out simple treatment of animals;

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, an Officer must:-

  1. Have a Diploma in any of the following fields:- Animal Health, Animal Health and Production, Environmental Health, Clinical Pathology and Laboratory Diagnosis, Poultry Science, Veterinary Public Health and Meat Technology or Animal Husbandry from a recognized institution;
  2. Be registered by the Kenya Veterinary Board;
  3. Have a certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution;
  4. Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
  1. VETERINARY OFFICER JG ‘L’ (3 POSTS) – PERMANENT & PENSIONABLE

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Undertaking disease control activities such as disease search, vaccination and enforcement of livestock movement regulations;
  2. Participating in the training of stakeholders in vector control programmes;
  3. Treating the sick animals;
  4. Advising on good veterinary practices,
  5. Collecting data and preparing reports on animal health, products and markets;
  6. Providing advice on animal breeding and welfare,
  7. Undertaking postmortem examination and other diagnostics tests.

Requirements for Appointment

For the appointment to this grade, a candidate must:

  1. Be in possession of Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM) degree from a recognized institution;
  2. Be registered by the Kenya Veterinary Board.
  3. Have a certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution;
  4. Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
  1. PRINCIPAL FISHERIES OFFICER JG ‘N’ (1 POST) – PERMANENT & PENSIONABLE

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Compiling reports in the area of specialization;
  2. Developing and organizing training programs in liaison with relevant institutions and agencies and disseminating fisheries related information;
  3. Managing fish breeding programs, fish feed formulation and pond management programs;
  4. Inspecting fish handling facilities on the farms;
  5. Monitoring, Control and surveillance of fisheries resources including conducting frame stock and catch assessments surveys;
  6. Identifying critical habitats and seasons for designing appropriate protection strategies;
  7. Monitoring fish habitats for pollutants;
  8. Carrying out diagnosis, prevention and control of fish diseases;
  9. Enforcing compliance of regulatory measures including licensing closed seasons and slot sizes and promoting fish marketing and value addition.

Requirements for Appointment

  1. Served in the grade of Chief Fisheries Officer for a minimum period of three(3) years;
  2. Bachelor degree in any of the following fields:- Fisheries,Zoology,Aquatic Science, Natural Resource Management,Biochemistry,Food Sciences and Technology, EnvironmentalScience, BiologicalSciences, PhysicalSciences, Chemistry or any other equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution;
  3. Certificate in Senior Management Course lasting not less than four(4) weeks from a recognized institution;

  1. FISHERIES OFFICER JG ‘K’ (2 POSTS) – PERMANENT & PENSIONABLE

Duties and Responsibilities

An Officer at this level will work under the guidance and supervision of an experienced officer:-

  1. Receiving and compiling fisheries related statistical data from the field;
  2. Analyzing fisheries data and preparing reports;
  3. Assist in monitoring, control and surveillance of the fisheries resources;
  4. Undertaking fisheries extension activities, maintaining of ponds at fish farms and hatcheries;
  5. Inspecting fish and fish handling facilities at fish landing sites, marketing and farms.
  6. Assisting in the promotion of fish marketing ad value chain

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must:-

  1. Have Degree in any of the following fields:- Fisheries,Zoology,Aquatic Science, Natural Resources Management,Biochemistry,Food Science and Technology, Environmental Science, Biological Sciences, Physical Science, Chemistry or any other relevant qualifications from a recognized institituition.

VACANCIES IN THE DEPARTMENT OF LANDS AND MINING

  1. PHYSICAL PLANNING OFFICER JG ‘K’ (4 POSTS) – PERMANENT & PENSIONABLE

Duties and Responsibilities

An officer at this level will work under the guidance and supervision of a Senior Officer.

  1. Assemble spatial data gathered from the field and stakeholders for the Sub County to feed into the County Spatial Plan;
  2. Prepare base map of the Sub County generated by use of G.I.S. System;
  3. Prepare proposed land use Map indicating areas and direction of settlement, land for arable use, degradedland, sensitiveecosystem and transport systems linking the various land uses;
  4. Incorporate all the thematic/sectoral data and information generated into the designs of Sub County land use plan;
  5. Design the Sub County spatial structure;
  6. Delineation and planning of the existing and new Urban/Town centers in the Sub County;
  7. Formulation of plan to the ground to top potentials and mitigate challenges;
  8. Ground trothing and revision of plans;
  9. Record rationalization and development on a G.I.S platform;
  10. Create base for preparation of valuation rolls for all the township properties;
  11. Create neighborhood land use plans around strategic facilities e.g.airports, railwayterminals, university campuses, etc.;
  12. Undertaking feasibility studies on physical,social,economic and environmental characteristics;
  13. Implementing physical plans for national,regional,urban areas and cities;
  14. Processing Development Control applications, implementation and enforcement of Development Control;
  15. Maintaining Physical Planning records in the Sub Counties.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must:-

  1. Have a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines:- Urban and RegionalPlanning, Urban Planning or Town Planning from a recognized institution;
  2. Be a graduate member of Kenya Institute of Planners or Architectural Association of Kenya( Town Planning Chapter);
  3. Have a certificate in G.I.S or computer application skills from a recognized institution;
  4. Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
  1. SURVEY OFFICER(LAND SURVEYOR II) JG ‘K’ (4 POSTS) – PERMANENT & PENSIONBLE

Duties and Responsibilities

An officer at this level will work under the guidance and supervision of a Senior Officer.

  1. Establish and supervision of external and internal boundaries in adjudication programmes;
  2. Production of RIM’s in adjudication areas for registration purposes;
  3. Implementation of development plans as prepared by the physical planning department;
  4. Implementation of development plans as prepared by the physical planning department;
  5. Administration of mutation surveys from licensed surveyors for purposes of issuing new numbers;
  6. Updating of RIM’s( Registry Index Maps) and PID’S ( Preliminary Index Diagrams) to reflect new numbers;
  7. Resolution of boundary disputes in conjunction with the Land Registrar;
  8. With devolution taking roots and survey and mapping functions having been devolved, the office intends to start undertaking the following functions:

a)Execution of fixed boundary surveys for new grants;

b)Execution of mutation

  1. Processing and maintenance of sub divisional schemes and engineering survey records;
  2. Liaising with other departmental heads within the Sub County on land survey issues;
  3. Development, implementation and realization of the department’s performance appraisal system and contracts;
  4. Overall management and development of staff welfare and other technical requirements;
  5. Responding to court summons.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade a candidate must have:-

  1. Have a Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines:- Land Survey and Photogrammetric; Geometrics, Geo-informants or related functions;
  2. Have a certificate in G.I.S/G.P.S/Remote Sensing or Computer application skills from a recognized institution;
  3. Good communication and interpersonal skills;
  4. Ability to manage staff and provide good leadership;
  5. Some experience in a busy environment;

  1. HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT OFFICER I JG ‘K’ (3POSTS) – PERMANENT & PENSIONABLE

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Carrying out staff audits; identifying gaps and developing optimal staffing level in the County;
  2. Preparing the budget for the HRM function;
  3. Administration of staff payroll, on-boarding of new staff, preparing and distributing staff handbooks and other HR materials;

VACANCIES IN THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SERVICES

  1. HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT OFFICER II, JOB GROUP ‘J’(1 POST) PERMANENT & PENSIONABLE

This is the entry and training grade for the Human Resource Management Officers’ cadre. An officer at this grade will perform a variety of Human Resource Management duties of limited scope and complexity under the Guidance and supervision of a more senior officer in a medium sized Department or in a section within the Human Resource Division.

Duties and responsibilities will entail:

  1. Verification of information relating to Recruitment, appointment, transfers, Human Resource Management records and complement control;
  2. Processing cases for the Ministerial Human Resource Management Advisory Committee
  3. Assisting in the Implementation of the decisions thereof and supervising and guiding clerical Staff in the Division/Section.

Requirements for Appointment

  1. Served in the grade of Human Resource Management Assistant III, for At least three (3) years;
  1. Part I of the Certified Public Secretaries (K) Examination or its accepted equivalent;
  1. Certificate course in management, records management, pensions, salaries or complement control;

OR

  1. Diploma in Human Resources Management or Records Management;
