the facts

In the California and Arizona desert, thousands of aircraft that once flew over the world remain in the relentless sun. In the near future a lot more planes will be put out of operation, because maintenance costs of an aircraft explode when it gets older and older. Landing gear, turbines and other essential parts will be stripped of and can be used in other active aircraft. But there’s no special use for the body. To tell the truth – probably your cola can was part of an aircraft’s body.

the idea

The concept is pretty simple but also resourcefully.

Aircraft bodies will be transformed into living boxes.

As an example we’ve chosen the Boing 737. It’s possible to manufacture three Airlofts_737 out of one singleplane.

advantages

Advantages are obvious.

Exterior walls, basement and ceiling already exist. So, there’s nearly no need for additional raw materials. Resources are conserved and assembly costs are minimized.

The construction is extremely stable because planes have to withstand high pressure during departure, flight and landing. Static auxiliary constructions aren’t necessary and problems during transportation do not exist.

Due to compact measurements transportation on road-, rail-, sea- and air-ways is easily possible. The airloft_737 will be completely furnished in a factory and afterwards shipped in one unit to its destination point. This will minimize assembly costs.

The cover of the airloft_737 is highly insulated. This assures comfortable and energy- saving living. During a flight to bear in mind the outside temperature range from

- 40C° to + 50C°.

The aluminium-casing is weatherproofed and needs no special care. A long lifetime is guaranteed.

The airloft_737 allows two persons a comfortable, cosy, exciting and remarkable living.

The apartment is based on piers and is easily set up on different places.

The elliptical shape is a special eye catcher. The form stands for security.

At the same time the large frontal windows connect the inside with the outside nature.

The gangway leads to the gate – the entrance area.

Inside the airloft_737 curving stairs pass the wardrobe, restroom / lavatories and lead up to the kitchenette / dinette. From the entrance to the kitchenette the way gets smaller and smaller.

In the kitchen – area, the room abruptly expands and shows you a fantastic panoramic outside view of the nature.

In the first class - one level bellow - living takes place. Here the elliptical shape shows to advantage. A preliminary terrace seems to make the living room appear even bigger.

Different levels indicate different utilizations and areas.

Furthermore the sense of the ambience is enhanced.

A ladder leads to the loft on top of the bathroom.

The curved ceiling enhance a cosy and comfortable sleeping atmosphere.

Generous retaining capacity is situated under the kitchenette and the 1st class.
