VALE BILL SPOONER
Members of the Tasmanian RPG will have been saddened to learn of the
passing of Bill Spooner on 17 February 2009. Those of us who had the
privilege of knowing Bill will remember him as a kind, gentle man
devoted to his family, who worked tirelessly to develop the property
he and Cathy bought a few years ago on the outskirts of Cygnet.
Bill, Cathy and their daughters, Angela and Samantha moved from Taree
in NSW along with their whole Kaywana stud which soon became one of
the leading welsh studs in Tasmania. Bill and Cathy served as
executive members of the RPG for two years helping to ensure the
success of the Tasmanian All Welsh Shows in those years.
A keen horticulturalist, Bill had created a fine garden on the
property and with Cathy, specialised in the propagation and growing of
a wide range of ornamental bamboos, many of which Cathy converted into
beautiful and unique riding and driving whips.
Our hearts go out to Cathy, Angela and Sam following the loss of a
truly fine husband and father.

The Tasmanian RPG show committee would like to thank everyone who came along and supported the 2009 Tasmanian All Welsh Show.

We would also like to congratulate everyone who placed on the day.

2010 Welsh National Show Tatura Victoria– March long weekend!

Thinking of attending the 2010 Welsh National Show but don’t know how to qualify?

Here’s how!!

The qualifying period for the 2010 Welsh National Show is from the 31/01/2009 to 31/01/2010.

Qualifications are as follows:

*A First at the 2009 Welsh National Show is an automatic qualifier for that same class next year

* At a State All Welsh or a Royal Show a 1st, 2nd or 3rd place is a qualifier for the class that you gained that prize in

* At other WP&CS run Shows, Aggie Shows or Breed Shows a 1st place is a qualifier for that class that you gained the 1st in.

Example: A win at an aggie show in a Welsh gelding class will qualify you for the Sect A gelding class at the National. A win in an Open Pony gelding class will NOT qualify you for the Welsh National Show.

Don’t forget to check out YOUR website!

We need you to send in news/Pictures etc for our website!

will see the arrival of his last foal in Tasmania, an Arabian Pony to
a lovely purebred Arab mare who visited him last season. I am very
pleased that he will live out his live in such a lovely home and thank
