AbilmenteAutunno October in Vicenza

the Celebration of Creativity has a brand new edition

Catwalk shows, home decor, artistic installations, handmade creations, knitting, crochet, patchwork and the new area for mothers and children: these are the key words for the benchmark event for creatives and crafting enthusiasts at Fiera di Vicenza.

AbilmenteAutunno, the Celebration of Creativity being held from 13rd to 16thOctober at Fiera di Vicenza, is preparing to offer you four days that are about all-round creativity. Creative techniques such as knitting, crochet, embroidery, lace making and patchwork offer new scenarios on original ways to invest your free time, together with hints and tips for fashion and design enthusiasts, and so much more. At Abilmente Vicenza, thatregistered52,000 visitors in the Fallof 2015, will participate 320 exhibitors and 25 embroidery schools. Among the novelties of this edition, the brand new area “Fatto da Mamma”(Made by Mum), dedicated to ideas for Mothers and Kids.

This event is not just dedicated to experts and to “handmade victims”; it is also for those who want to spend a day out with the family or friends looking at new hobbies, or seeking the perfect inspiration for home furnishings or for creating an unusual gift, perhaps for under the Christmas tree. This year will be presenting lots of new features:Hall 7 will be the theatre for an Atelier dedicated to Knitting and Crochet – along with the Association “Sul filo dell’arte”. Also attending will be Luisa De Santi, professionally known as Crochetdoll, who has created a sculpture-dress that will be on display exclusively at Abilmente, together with a selection of original knitted creations made with the finest quality Italian yarns for “Feel The Yarn 2016”, the exhibition and contest organised for the latest edition of Pittifilati by Ornella Bignami from ElementiModa. The theme of the competition was “Knitting Time”, and entrants were students from the most prestigious international fashion schools together with fine quality Italian yarn makers.

Also in Hall 7 there will be an atelier dedicated to Weaving and Felting with creative crafter Eva Basile and the Weavers’ Coordination, ready to set their skills to bringing unique creations to life. This creative corner will also include a selection of hats made for the exhibition “Hats, a necessary accessory”.

At AbilmenteAutunno, creativity is also art, as shown in the project “DAMSS ART FASHION SHOW” devised by Daniela Arnoldi and Marco Sarzi-Sartori with the collaboration of Bernina Italia and Freudenberg. In Hall 7, the two artists will be holding a performance with their costume-sculptures, worn and exhibited in a brand new way, for an occasion that will see visitors participate “actively”. The Arte Dell’Assurdo Association, in collaboration with Abilmente and the A.I.M. Mobilità, is ready to astound you in Hall 6 with the project INTRECCI-AMO-CI, a great collective event where a 12-metre bus will be yarn bombed. This is an art form also known as “urban knitting”, street art originated in the United States, where street furniture is covered with knitting and woven yarns. The association “Sul Filo dell’arte” is showing a collective work at the entrance, with an urban knitting installation entitled “Le mille bolleblu”, 500 “dream bubbles” that will become “effervescence" at AbilmenteAutunno. The association is inviting

visitors to Abilmente to take part in the collective work by covering tennis or ping pong balls with crochet or knitting and bring them to Abilmente Vicenza. (more information here).

In Hall 7 there will also be an exhibition on “Borsed’autore”, designer bags, complete with the studies and research of several bag designers into possible alternative uses and materials. Genuine unique pieces, made starting with unusual objects or repurposed, without losing anything in terms of style and fashion. The designers shown are Chiara Catalano from Coccodrive, LudovicaCirillo from By Ludo, Paola and Michela Venditti from Mok, Rosanna Bassani from Feltrodiro and artist SantinaEleuteri.

There is no shortage of tips and ideas for creative outfits on the catwalks dedicated to fabric garments made by Burda and woollens by Lane Mondial: a genuine fashion show, where you will be able to enjoy viewing sweaters, dresses and capes, as well as outerwear and accessories for all occasions.

AbilmenteAutunno also attracts curiosity with a host of different expressions in Patchwork, with an Atelier where the National Association, Quilt Italia and the most important Associations in Veneto will be holding courses and demonstrations of traditional and contemporary techniques. Patchwork isalsoin the spotlight at the international show, Wide Horizons V dedicated to quilts selected by the SAQA regional jury panel for Europe and the Middle East.

To show the many faces of creativity, the event this year also proposes an original world of ideas for mothers and kids. Hall 7 will in fact become a melting pot for ideas by the group Creativemamy led by Maria Veneziano and followed on Facebook by over 1 million, 350 thousand fans, and by the Associations "Cuore di Maglia" and "EssereMamme a Vicenza". The ideas dedicated to future mums include a workshop on Baby Showers organised by Susy&Susi fromFelt&kids4Love and CherryFlowers. Shining a spotlight on the solidarity of creative crafters is the Association “Little Dresses for Africa”.

Inside Hall 6 is the “Area di Felicità a Pacchi”, a space designed to help you capitalise on your own creative hobbies. We have brought different people with a shared philosophy together under the same “roof”: the idea of turning their hobbies into work with the ultimate aim of being happy and fulfilled. A completely yellow area that is all about optimism, where you will find different workshops and products that will inspire you, amuse you and help you discover new horizons.

Hall 2 will be guiding visitors on their discovery of the embroidery and lace-making hall, where thirty or soschools and associations - all carefully selected - will be holding courses and demos to showcase a wide range of different techniques that will allow you to create and customise furnishings, curtains, accessories and clothing.

Those seeking ideas to give their home a new look will be thrilled by the workshop areas dedicated to ideas for home decor organised inside Hall 1 by important businesses in the industry, such as Leroy Merlin and Decorlandia, in conjunction with Renkalik. Items will also be on sale inside this hall,

made by readers of CasaFacile to raise funds for the charity“Lega del Filo d’Oro”.

Those who want to lose themselves in inspiration from the East will find a demo area at AbilmenteAutunno: “A Skuola di Zakka”, set out with a series of sewing stations, as if in a classroom, where it will be possible to learn the most common sewing techniques used in Zakka Style, a new trend from Japan.

Sewing enthusiasts will be able to meet the three young creatives selected by Janome Italia as part of the project known as “JanoME” which aims to help them turn professional and join up for next year’s selection.

As well as offering tips to boost your creativity,AbilmenteAutunno also has room for shopping thanks to numerous retailers of materials used to make bags, costume jewellery, fashion accessories and complementary items to furnish the home. There will be a vast range of fabrics, felts, yarns, decorative papers, colours, modelling pastes, and in short, something for everyone!

The Fiera Vicenza Educational area at AbilmenteAutunno will be holding workshops for younger visitors, taught by expert artisans, and organised in collaboration with Fiera di Vicenza, Vicenza City Council and Artisan Associations in Vicenza. In the large workshop area set out in the exhibition centre, kids, teachers and parents will be able to try out different decorative techniques and work with a variety of materials to discover the various potentials and get a hands-on, fun approach to the principles of recycling and sustainability. On Saturday and Sunday, the event will also have a series of free fun workshops for all the family. Decorated box with Laura Vajngerl; Decorations in paper with Rosanna Frapporti; Artist’s Book with Elena Marconato; Painting techniques and colour with Federica Pilastro. With its techniques to learn and ideas to use, AbilmenteAutunno is for all those who want to embark on a creative journey into the ability to shape items, fabrics and other materials with their own hands. Devising, transforming, and customizing are in fact the bywords for an event that will give free rein to the imaginations of young and old alike, with initiatives in the many themed areas and Ateliers.
