Clerking Program 2016 Clerking Test

The 2016 CFA Clerking Program test consists of 60 questions. Part I contains a combination of True/False and Multiple Choice questions in regard to Show Rules, with a particular focus on new rules implemented during the past two years. Part II contains questions related to the Clerking Program Guidelines and Procedures, and Part III pertains to Show Mechanics. All questions are covered in the April 29, 2016-April 30, 2017 Show Rules and the 2016-2018 Clerking Manual.

The new Show Rules and Clerking Manual are included in this package. Both may also be downloaded as PDF files from the Exhibitors page of the CFA website in the section for Ring Clerks/Master Clerks:

This test was prepared so that clerks would become familiar with all the recent Show Rule changes and be reminded of current Clerking Program guidelines. Please be sure to READ each question carefully before answering. Some of these questions are developed to address clerking issues that have come up during the past two years. Others are meant to refresh your memory on some rules and procedures that may have been forgotten or overlooked.

Everyone will be answering the questions on Master Clerking. Please remember that any LICENSED Certified Clerk can fill the position of Master Clerk if no licensed Master Clerk is available to perform this function.

In order to pass this test and be relicensed or licensed, clerks must achieve the following minimum grades:

Certified Clerk:85%

Master Clerk/MCI:90%

New clerking licenses for the period 2016-2018 will be mailed in July to all those who pass the clerking test. In order to expedite your license, we highly recommend you take the test online for immediate test results. If the test was taken via hard copy using the Scantron form, your clerking test score results will be mailed along with your license.

ONLINE TEST INSTRUCTIONS

All clerks listed in the Online Almanac clerks list are being sent an email notice containing instructions for the online test as well as the link to the online test:

It may be helpful to mark your answers on the hardcopy test first and then enter the answers online. You will be asked to enter your email address, which should be the same email address where the online test link notice was sent, and also to create a password. You may then start the test. There is an option to start a new test or resume a previous test, allowing you the opportunity to work on the test over time or complete it all at once. When the test is completed, you will submit the test and will be notified immediately which questions you missed and if you passed the test. If you did not pass the test, you may retake it.

HARDCOPY TEST INSTRUCTIONS

If you choose to take the hardcopy only version of the test, there is a Scantron form included in this package on which to record your answers. You MUST USE A SOFT (No. 2) PENCIL to mark your answers on the form, as shown with the example in the box titled “Important”. Mark only ONE answer for each question. If you change any answers, be sure to completely erase the first answer. If a trace or smudge is left, the scoring machine will detect two answers and will score the question as incorrect. Once completed, send ONLY the form to Central Office in the return envelope provided. Please keep the printed test to review answers if any were marked incorrectly.
