Dr. Stanley B. Supinski is the Co-Director of Partnership Programs and a faculty member for the U.S.Naval Postgraduate School, Center for Homeland Defense and Security (CHDS). The Center conducts a wide range of graduate education programs to assist current and future homeland security leaders to develop strategies, policies, and the organizational elements needed to contend with manmade and natural disasters. Programs include a master’s degree, executive education, and a variety of educational outreach efforts. CHDS programs are sponsored by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency ManagementAgency, National Preparedness Directorate. In his role as Partnership Program Director, Dr. Supinski has supported course and program development for more than 200 academic institutions nationwide.

Dr. Supinski is also an associate professor at the Long Island University Homeland Security Management Institute. The university established its Homeland Security program in 2004 based on the principle that professors should have real-world experience and that its students are likely to have as much knowledge on current topics as instructors. The university features two homeland security programs: a graduate-level Advanced Certificate in Homeland Security Management and a Master of Science degree in the same field. Both programs are delivered entirely in an online format, with no in-residence requirement. Dr. Supinski teaches Introduction to Homeland Security Management and Intelligence Function in Homeland Security.

Prior to working as an academic, Dr. Supinski had 30 years of government service. In his most recent position, he was the deputy for Training and Education for the North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command, where he developed the organizations’ academic training and education programs. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 2003, following 27 years of active service. He served in two capacities during his military career: as an educator with the U.S. Air Force Academy and as an intelligence officer in numerous locations and capacities. At the Academy, he held positions in the Department of Foreign Languages as an associate professor of Russian, chair of the Strategic Languages Division, and director of the Language Learning Center. As an intelligence officer, Dr. Supinski served primarily in the human intelligence field, managing intelligence collection and conducting operations using the Polish and Russian languages.

Dr. Supinski has conducted research and authored numerous articles on homeland security and defense, technology support to education, and language acquisition. He holds a Ph.D. in instructional systems design from Florida State University and a master’s degree in national security affairs from the Naval Postgraduate School.

Dr. Supinski has attended the Emergency Management Institute conference numerous times in the past and has found it very valuable in terms of networking and gaining insight into the latest in emergency management and homeland security education.
