Dear Customer

The Care Act – Charging Consultation

The Council is preparing for major legislative change with the implementation of the Care Act from 1st April 2015 and as part of this preparation the Council has to consider the policies which detail how charges for care are applied. Cheshire East Council wants to ensure that its charging policies are fair and equitable to everyone.

The Council is launching a period of Consultation to seek views from customers and carers before any decisions are made.

The consultation runs from 1st December 2014 to the 25th January 2015. Full details are available at:

Proposals to consider are:

  • Amending the way a customers’ contribution towards care is determined.
  • Recovering some of the Council’s costs associated with providing care and removing subsidy from the charges.
  • Increasing administration charges to people who wish to set charges against their property and services for full cost people.
  • Reviewing Tele-care services and how the Council charges for these.
  • Reviewing Carers services and charges.
  • Reviewing the Councils’ Direct Payment processes.
