The Campus Kitchens Project
19 Eye Street NW
Washington, DC 20001
To Whom it May Concern,
I am pleased to provide this letter of support for the establishment of a Campus Kitchen affiliate at ______University. This project has emboldened a wide range of supporters from across our campus and community. Specifically, the create of a Campus Kitchen affiliate has received support from our President, Vice President for Student Life, Vice President for University Advancement, the Center for Service Learning and Community Engagement, as well as Dining Services and many community organizations. Our Campus volunteer club has already identified two strong student leaders, who will spearhead recruiting and training of other students. I believe this combination of support will ensure the stability and sustainability of the project.
The mission and goals of The Campus Kitchens Project fit directly into the strategic goals of the University. Service, civic engagement, and sustainability are all strong components of the ______University’s next 10 year strategic plan. This initiative is listed as one of the university priorities for the upcoming year. Funding for a full-time professional staff member has already been allocated, and we are currently in the process of hiring a Project Coordinator. Our University Advancement group is also approaching donors to sponsor the Campus Kitchen.
We greatly appreciate the support and encouragement we have received from the National Campus Kitchen Office. We hope to join the network and encourage other colleges and universities when they establish their own Campus Kitchen. Please know that many individuals and departments across the university are excited about this endeavor and are working towards its success.
As a sponsoring office for the Campus Kitchen we promise to:
- Provide advisory support and guidance for programming and operations
- Provide designated work/office space for Campus Kitchen (can be shared)
- Allow use of necessary technology (phone, computer, copy machine, etc.)
- Assistance in navigating university policies related to money, budgeting and fundraising.
- Allow use of school’s 501(c) 3 nonprofit status for the Campus Kitchen program.
- Help Campus Kitchen apply to be a recognized student organization on campus.
- Assistance in establishing an on-campus bank account for receiving donations and paying expenses.
- Sign grant contracts/and or licensing agreements (or find someone on campus who is able to do that).
Sincerely,
