MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

Responsible to the Head Coach for the development and delivery of the gymnastics programme including Recreation, Acrobatics, Tumbling and Trampolining.

KEY AREAS

  1. To assist the Head Coach in the development and delivery of a gymnastics programme including Recreation, Pre-School, Trampolining, Schools, Special Needs, Acrobatics and Tumbling.
  1. To assist the Head Coach in the supervision and motivation of paid and voluntary coaches and to ensure that all weekly time sheets are completed .
  1. Provide training programmes as required.
  1. To assist the Head Coach to carry out the health and safety programme.
  1. To assist in the implementation of a gymnastics development plan for Lynnsport.
  1. Aim to assist in producing National standard gymnasts.
  1. Act as cover for recreational classes when required, including pre-school and schools.

MAIN DUTIES

  1. Undertake coaching duties as required, including Elite and Recreation sessions.
  1. Carry out coaching instruction for the Acrobatics and Tumbling squads and where necessary, as determined by the Head Coach; accompany children at competitions.
  1. Maximise the number of Elite gymnasts in order to enhance opportunity and income.
  1. Liaise with the Head Coach and Leisure Development Co-ordinator on matters of talent spotting and integration where appropriate in elite.
  1. Carry out coaching within the wider gymnastics programme including Pre-School, Recreational, Schools and Special Needs.
  1. Assist in the organisation and supervision of competitions, events, outreach displays and projects.
  2. Promote and install a high quality of gymnastics coaching while ensuring the safety of gymnasts.
  1. To carry out equipment checks and help ensure a safe gymnastics environment.
  1. Ensure high standards of customer care and communication are maintained at all times.
  1. Ensure that weekly timesheets are completed by the Assistant Gymnastic Coaches and that these are passed onto the Head Coach to be verified.

ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED FOR THE SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE OF THE JOB

Experience/Knowledge

-Experience of coaching gymnastics at Pre-School, Recreational and Elite level.

-Minimum Level 2 British Gymnasticscoaching qualification

-BGA affiliation essential.

-Experience of planning classes

-Upto date knowledge of British Gymnastics Coaching Award Schemes.

-Awareness of applicable codes of conduct, particularly when training or accompanying gymnasts.

Skills-Excellent communication skills at all levels.

-Confident manner in dealing with the public.

-The ability to prioritise working duties effectively.

-The ability to work as part of a team.

-The ability to work under pressure.

-Ability to demonstrate high standards of customer care to parents and gymnasts at all times.

-Competent in handling and supporting gymnasts while training.

-Hold a full driving license with access to a vehicle for travelling between Alive Leisure sites, training camps and competitions.
