DATES: 04 JULY TO 21 JULY 2017 (INCLUSIVE) – 8:30 AM - 12:15 PM – TUESDAY TO FRIDAY (3 WEEKS)

TEACHER – MIDDLE

ELL – GRADES 7-8

The successful candidate for this position will demonstrate an innovative, creative and a personalized approach to instruction. The ability to actively engage students in their own learning will be essential.

QUALIFICATIONS

·  Intermediate/middle teacher training with related experience at the intermediate/middle school levels.

·  Appropriate coursework/training in ELL.

·  Recent successful classroom experience teaching students with ELL needs.

·  TESL Certificate would be an asset.

·  Demonstrated experience in differentiating and personalizing instruction.

·  Demonstrated experience in second language metholdology.

·  Demonstrated experience in setting language goals in relation to English Language Proficiency Levels essential.

·  Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional learning and the implementation of high impact instructional strategies.

·  Demonstrated ability to plan and organize curriculum, learning spaces, individualized programs.

·  Demonstrated ability to manage the changing dynamics of a classroom, or small groups of learners.

·  Demonstrated highly effective interpersonal and communication skills. Must be able to communicate complex or sensitive issues in a positive manner.

·  Demonstrated ability to manage themselves, learners and others in a conflict situation.

·  Demonstrated ability to positively contribute to a team environment and a highly collaborative atmosphere.

·  Demonstrated ability to engage learners at all levels.

·  Demonstrated ability to use assessment as an effective tool for learning and charting progress.

·  Demonstrated ability to model safe, caring and inclusive behavior and commitment to the success of all learners.

·  Experience working with difficult to reach students and families or students and families in crisis.

·  Recent experience working in school/program with vulnerable or reluctant learners.

·  Experience supervising Teaching Assistants essential.

·  Satisfactory teacher evaluation and/or final practicum report(s).

·  Effective written and oral interpersonal skills.

·  Eligible for B.C. Certification.
