2. Godliness Program

Love God and your neighbors and seek the true meaning of life.

Matthew 22:37-39

Jesus replied: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind." This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: "Love your neighbor as yourself."

Ecclesiastes 12:13

Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter:

Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.

Importance: Living in this manner helps prevent debilitating affects on the cancer patient's immune system by enabling him or her to find the meaning of life. It can strengthen the will to fight the disease

Principles

Think of what you have received from God.

Give thanks in all circumstances.

Set priorities in your life.

Fear God.

Think of what God wants.

Always reflect on your life.

Give up prejudice against others.

Don't idolize money, power, knowledge, etc.

3. Mental Program

Keep negative feelings like anxiety, nervousness, frustration and fear under control.

Thessalonians 5:16-18

Be joyful always; pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Importance: Following these principles can prevent the weakening of the immune system caused by stress and tension. They will help to maintain peace of mind.

Principles

Thank God for His salvation.

Acknowledge your concern and worry.

Always keep the joy of salvation in your heart.

Think of people for whom you feel grateful

Give up expectations of others

Remember that, in general, people are to be loved rather than to be trusted.

Watch comedy.

Remember personally meaningful events.

Make friends with people with whom you feel you can communicate.

Close your eyes and breath calmly.

Nutritional Program

Seek nutritional balance.

Genesis 1:29

Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food."

Genesis 9:3

Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.

Importance: Well-balanced nutritional intake prevents the breakdown of the immune system and thus, enhances health.

Principles

Eat with thankfulness.

Chew well.

Eat a variety of whole grains instead of white rice only.

Eat more bean products and vegetables than meat.

Avoid overly salty and spicy foods.

Avoid charred meat and food additives.

Drink a moderate amount of water after every meal.

Drink a lot of water between meals.

Choose organic food.

If necessary, take supplements such as vitamin A, C, and E

4. Exercise Program

Move each part of the body for the harmony of the whole body.

Genesis 3:23

So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken.

I Timothy 4:8

For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.

Importance: Cancer patients should try to enhance physical strength to build their immune systems.

Principles

Work out with gratitude toward God who has given you your body.

Move the neck, trunk, arms and legs for the harmony of the whole body.

Take it easy and don't push yourself too hard.

Do some rhythmic exercises.

Exercise your muscles to strengthen them.

Take a walk or work lightly.

Work out regularly.

Play a ball game you enjoy.

Avoid hard exercise after a meal.

Rest after a workout.

5. Rest Program

Relax your body and mind by releasing physical and mental fatigue.

Psalm 4:8

I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.

Matthew 11:28-30

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

Importance: Cancer patients should accumulate energy by taking sufficient rest since their immune systems are weakened by tension and fatigue.

Principles
Thank God for giving you sleep.

Take a break when you feel tired.

Go to bed early if possible.

Sometimes stay absent-minded with your eyes closed.

Avoid watching TV late into the night.

Wash your feet or submerge your lower body in a bathtub for a more sound sleep.

Don't eat late at night.

Don't work out too hard at night.

Avoid drinking coffee.

Dismiss worries.

6. Medical Program

Receive medical treatment

Exodus 15:26

He said, "If you listen carefully to the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals you."

Matthew 9:12-13

On hearing this, Jesus said, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: I desire mercy, not sacrifice. For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."

Importance: Doctors play a key role in diagnosis and treatment.

Principles

Thank God for giving you your body.

Try to enhance the health of the whole body.

Examine carefully your physical condition.

Pay extra attention to the weak part of your body.

Find a doctor (or family doctor) you can trust and consult.

Have regular medical check-ups.

Avoid a pessimistic or arrogant attitude toward the results of the medical exam.

Thank doctors who are devoted to patients.

Discard your prejudice against Western/traditional medicine or alternative therapy.

Gain some general knowledge of medicine and make a scrapbook of newspaper or

magazine articles that are helpful.

7. Art Program

Lift up your depressed feelings and purify your sentiment by enjoying music, art and dance.

Psalm 149:3

Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with tambourine and harp.

Ephesians 5:19-20

Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Importance: These activities can help cancer patients lift themselves out of a depressed mood.

Principles

Thank God for giving you a voice, hands and feet.

Listen to good music, especially classical.

Enjoy good paintings of nature and people.

Sing more than once a day.

Sing hymns every day.

Draw a picture that reflects your wishes or regrets.

Move your body to the beat of music.

Read good books.

Watch good video movies.

Keep a diary.

8. Cleansing Program

Keep your body clean by regular bathing. Eat clean food, drink clean water and breathe clean air.

Genesis 1:1

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Genesis 1:26

Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."

Hebrews 10:22

Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.

Importance: It is important for patients to have healthy thoughts about their bodies. They should detoxify their systems, have clean water and air and consume healthy food. Also, they should protect themselves from electromagnetic fields in order to prevent further deterioration of the immune system

Principles

Take a bath or shower regularly.

Wash your handswhenever you return home from being out and about..

Have a bowel movement every day and an enema once per week if necessary

Breathe fresh air.

Drink mineral water after getting up in the morning and between meals.

Avoid watching TV for long periods at a time.

Eat organic produce and wash farm products thoroughly.

Take frequent breaks when using a computer.

Take appropriate steps if high voltage power lines are near your house.

Take appropriate measures to protect yourself from facilities that produce

pollution near you.

9. Sightseeing Program

Enjoy the scenic beauty of the God-created sky, mountains, sea, lakes, flowers, trees and birds. Seek peace of mind.

Genesis 1:1, 31

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning--the sixth day.

Psalm 19:1-2

The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge.

Importance: Seeing beautiful scenes helps patients relieve their tension, anxiety and stress.

Principles

Thank the Creator.

Look up at the sky once a day.

Look up at the green hills and snow capped mountains.

Notice the trees along the road.

Turn your eyes to the green plants and trees when you use public transportation.

Take a stroll in a nearby park or take a walk looking at mountains.

Look at the green plants in your house.

Look carefully at the beautiful scenery on television.

Take a look at the scenery around you when you are on the road.

Visit scenic spots whenever possible.

10. Service Program

Help suffering people with your love and gifts.

Mark 10:42-45

Jesus called them together and said, "You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

John 13:4-5

So he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples' feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.

Translation: "May God help suffering patients like me."

Importance: Helping others enables cancer patients to forget about their own worries and discover the meaning of life. It will ultimately enhance the quality of their lives.

Principles

Pray that the love of Jesus would abide in your heart .

Find your gift and refineit by exercising it.

Be sensitive to suffering people around you.

Pray for those who suffer and identify their needs.

Know your ability and limits.

Start with small stuff.

Don't boast of helping others. Realize that you are only doing what is right.

Know that God recognizes what you are doing, even if others do not.

Be considerate of the needs of those who are suffering and seek to lessen their burdens.
