The best way to cheer yourself up is to try and cheer somebody else.”

Dear Grand Oak Families,

I wanted to let all of our families know that on December 7th we will have our General PTA meeting and a 2nd Grade Holiday performance. The meeting will begin at 6 PM and our event will be starting at around 6:30. Thanks to all of the families that will be attending and special thanks to Ms. Gheraibeh, the 2nd Grade teachers and students, Special Area teachers, and all of the volunteers that make the night a success! What a special way to start off our winter holiday season this will be! There is a great deal of work that is put in by our teachers and students to create a performance of this nature and we are so proud of them. We are sure you will love it!

We are leading in to our last weeksof school prior to the winter holidays and we want to continue to remind our students to focus on having materials each day, making sure classwork is completed and have them give their very best each and every day. We understand that our schedules tend to get more chaotic and days become longer at this time of the year, but we need to make sure that we stay on our schedules at home and make sure our children are getting plenty of sleep. They will have a well-deserved vacation very soon but we want to use our instructional time wisely. Thank you for supporting our high academic standards and our teachers as they work to support the students of Grand Oak

Have a wonderful weekend.

Respectfully,

Mr. Giovanelli

I will be sharing information and ideas from a book entitled 180 Days of Manners by Forrest and Menger. Our focus will be the holiday season and how our children should respond :

  1. Use your best manners when someone gives you a gift- Make sure that children are taught to always say thank you in a meaningful voice, and that they never say anything negative about the gift they received. We must teach them that it is the thought that counts!
  2. The person giving the gift has spent time and money choosing your gift-Create a habit for children to always write a thank you for the gifts they receive as quickly as possible. Also model and teach them to be thankful that someone remembered you with a gift. What a super way to have your bucket filled!

Parents Information:

Our last day for students prior to Winter Break will be on December 19th. We will return to school on January 3rd, 2018.
