THE BESSIE PEARCE RECRUITMENT GRANT

Beta Chapter of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, an honorary society for women educators, offers grants to one or more outstanding women who plan to become classroom teachers. The awards will be at least $300 each and will be presented at the regularly scheduled annual scholarship and recruitment grant ceremony on February 23, 2016. Attendance is encouraged but not mandatory.

This recruitment grant is named for Dr. Bessie Pearce, Professor Emeritus, formerly Associate Dean and English Professor at San Antonio College. She was a distinguished member of Beta Chapter.

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICANT:

  1. Must have completed 24 college level hours at the time of application
  2. Must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0
  3. Must have been a resident of Bexar County for at least one year before applying
  4. Must be enrolled in at least 12 semester hours at an area college or university at the time of her application
  5. Must have decided on a major teaching field
  6. Must submit a completed application postmarked by midnight, Saturday, February 1, 2016.
  7. Must submit a letter of recommendation from a college or university faculty member
  8. Must furnish copies of complete college and/or university transcripts and a recent photograph.
  9. If selected, the recipient will be honored at the Beta Chapter, Delta Kappa Gamma Society International meeting, Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at 4:45 pm at Fellowship Hall, Hope Lutheran Church, 5714 Callaghan Road, San Antonio, TX 78228. Attendance is encouraged but not mandatory for students attending school out-of-town.
