Dear all

Welcome to the first groundhop staged by the Baris Northern Counties East League. It’s an exciting new hop for us, and we’ve come up with a great package of games for you to enjoy, featuring no less than nine matches across both divisions.

We kick off on Maundy Thursday with a trip to the Bracken Edge home of Yorkshire Amateur (7.45pm). Good Friday sees matches at Eccleshill United(10.45am), Thackley (1.45pm), Liversedge (4.45pm), and Brighouse Town (7.45pm). Saturday sees us travelling to Maltby Main (10.30am), Staveley Miners Welfare (1.30pm), Hallam (4.45pm), and the weekend rounds off at Worsborough Bridge Athletic (7.45pm)

Coach and transport

The coach base this year will be Wakefield. Why not let the coach take the strain for the weekend, be ferried around in comfort, and enjoy a beer or two? We are also repeating our coach user’s discount on the ticket, this time down to a fantastic £45, which includes all the programmes.

The coach will pick up at set times on the Thursday evening, and on Friday and Saturday mornings from the Hop hotel, the Cedar Court. We’ll try and look at organising another pick up if you choose to stay elsewhere, but bear in mind that the hotel has been chosen for it’s convenience to the M1, and to cut down on driver hours for what will be two very long days, so it may be that you will have to come over to the hotel to meet the coach. The cost of the coach will be available at a daily rate, but priority will be given to those booking for the full weekend. Bookings will not be accepted for coach transport without holding a match ticket.

Accommodation

This year, the base will be the Cedar Court Hotel. Literally just off the M1, this four star hotel is superb, and offers a wide range of facilities. We’ve negotiated a great deal on twin rooms for the weekend, which puts them at the same price as hotels in Newtown. We’ve also obtained a lower rate for singles (although they are more expensive than we are used to!).

Programmes etc

All clubs will be made aware of the number of programmes that will be needed on the day. The number will be based on the bookings we receive, so reserve your copies by booking tickets! Packs will be made up in advance for the Hop. Extra programme packs are not available. Programmes will be available inside each of the grounds. Programmes will be included in the price of your advance ticket. Club badges will be available on the day at all clubs, and no doubt lots of other people will be selling things too!!

Trading

Several traders will be in attendance at the hop. As usual, all the unofficial trading that is part and parcel of a hop is not only welcome, but encouraged!! The only proviso we make is that if you are trading, you need to hold a full weekend ticket.

Match Tickets

Tickets are available in advance for the hop, and these of course guarantee you a programme at each game. The advance ticket will give a large discount on the match day admissions; those using the coach will enjoy an even better price. In addition, we appreciate that some hoppers may want to pick and choose their games, so we have introduced a single match ticket scheme. This includes admission to the selected games(s) and a reserved programme; you may buy as many or as few as you want for these games. Admission is available on the gate if you do not wish to buy tickets in advance.

SAEs

When booking, remember to include an A5 Stamped addressed envelope (That’s the normal size of a programme) for your tickets and information to be sent out to you. Please make sure you get the envelopes and postage correct!! Please use a good quality envelope, and no small envelopes please! Tickets will be despatched around two weeks before the event.
