Abstract

The purpose of this research is to work out youth home residents possibilities to involve. Main subjects is to find out could involvement make youth home residents life better and could it help them to take part of society. Involvement has been part of Jyväskylä`s youth work also earlier, but that time it was only focused to so called normal youth work and not to special youth work. Youth home residents are part of special youth work area.
This research main questions are; youth home residents possibilities to involve now and future and what involvement means in youth home residents life. This research consist two different perspectives of involvement. One perspective is to understand involvement as a possibility to make youth home residents lifestyle better. Second perspective is to understand involvement as a possibility to help youth home residents involvement in society. This research is made in Jyväskylä city and it consist all Jyväskylä`s youth homes ( there is three youth homes in Jyväskylä). This research is made through questionnaires and interviews. Research consist two different questionnaires, one to youth home residents (sample 25) and other to youth home residents leaders ( sample 32).
Youth home residents involvement get importance position in youth home residents answers and also in their leaders answers. Involvement are seeing very important to youth home residents, because it`s seems like it helps youth home residents to take part in society. Involvement is also important way to integrate youth home residents in society. Involvement can also make youth home residents lifestyle better.
To expand involvement action also in special youth work area, in this case to youth home residents, are topical right now. There is a real need in special youth work area to have more and new methods to prevent youth home residents exclusion. Involvement action is one good method to do it. This research is very timely and there is a order from working life to create new methods in special youth work.
