Terrorism. Now a towering part of our lives has affected our daily routine with constant warnings of attack and how many deaths are caused in these horrific attacks. But what about the rest of it. Why do ISIS believe this is what needs to be done? Why are Americans and people from Europe and the UK tempted to go fight for ISIS? Our school report is here to answer these questions.
Social media:
Social media is always merged with our daily lives whether it be Facebook, twitter, snapchat or even Instagram it always plays apart in our lives. Especially in this generation young people always check social media…But what happens if terrorists get onto these sights. In the last couple of years ISIS has been with us it has spread all over social media and it appears its tactics have payed off. In a recent American survey it has said that 12,000 to 15,000 including 100 Americans have gone to fight alongside with ISIS. Although it’s impossible to say if it was the social media awareness of ISIS that made them join most of ISIS propaganda is targeted at Westerners.
The authority’s response:
The American government are trying to tackle this problem by countering the terrorism and propaganda by using methods involving giving children lessons on terrorism and the problems surrounding it. Of course world Governments have gone to long lengths to try and push down on terrorism like for example the bombing in Syria and also those extreme lengths to tackle terrorism like the example of Donald Trump which really promotes islamophobia Due to media and some Politian’s. This has become a real problem all around the world especially in the UK as there have been racial attacks on Muslims and abuse all across the country.
Racism:
As we said before the issues surrounding ISIS have spread all over the globe which can now affect the average Muslim in your community.A study shows that after the horrendous terror attacks in Paris Muslim based racial attacks have risen by a staggering 300%. Also a Government report has shown that after the November Paris attack that led to the death of 130, 115 Muslim hate attacks have occurred. We believe this is a good example of islamophobia at what certain Medias can lead people to do.
The UK media:
Ever noticed something? You always hear about the devastating attacks in Europe and in America but never about the horrendous attacks in Syria itself. The recent migrant crisis has been a domino effect of the attacks in the East. During the horrible massacre in Paris there was also an awful terrorist attack in Lebanon which killed 42 people. This brutal attack was not reported in the UK. I believe this shows that are country mainly focuses on the western side of the world and what directly affects our country or our allies.
