Annual Awards’ Nomination Criteria

The Arc of Story County will present its 2018awards at Viva la Arc Casino Night, March 3. Nominations need to be received by February 16thand submitted to The Arc Awards’ Committee Chair, either electronically or via US mail:

ADMINISTRATOR or PROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR- to recognize the service of an individual who has demonstrated outstanding achievements and made significant contributions. Through his or her creation, supervision, and/or implementation of exemplary programs, persons with developmental disabilities have received quality and enriched supports in their living, learning, and working environments.

BUSINESS PERSON OF THE YEAR - to recognize an employer, co-worker, or supervisor who has made significant contributions to the successful employment of a person(s) with developmental disabilities. A nominee has demonstrated an exemplary philosophy of supporting employment opportunities through recruiting, training, accommodating, and/or advancing a person(s) with disabilities.

SELF-ADVOCATE OF THE YEAR- to recognize a person with developmental disabilities who has been a role model and mentor, a respected and active member of society, and an inspiration to others. Through his or her talents and abilities, extraordinary and meritorious success has been evident.

SUPER SIBLING OF THE YEAR - to recognize a brother or sister who has demonstrated a positive attitude that enhances the quality of life for a sibling with developmental disabilities. A Super Sibling serves as a role model and demonstrates ongoing commitment, care, and unconditional love.

TEACHER or EDUCATOR OF THE YEAR- to recognize the service of an individual who has substantially contributed to the education, growth, and development of person(s) with developmental disabilities. Through skill, integrity, knowledge, patience, and care, he or she has made a significant and lasting impact.

VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR- to recognize the service of a volunteer who has substantially contributed integrity and dedication in support of persons with developmental disabilities. His or her generous contributions of time and talents have enhanced, either directly or indirectly, the lives of persons with developmental disabilities.
