The Annette McGuire Cravens ’45 Internship in Visual Culture, or “Cravens Internships” provides students concentrating in art and art history support for internships in arts-related organizations.

ELIGIBILITY - STUDENT APPLICANT

To be eligible for a Cravensfund, the student must:

  • Be in good academic standing
  • Have a long-term ambition to pursue academic and professional development in the field of visual arts and culture

ELIGIBILITY – INTERNSHIP

To qualify for a Cravens fund, the internship must meet the following criteria:

  • Take place during the summer
  • Hosted at a museum, gallery, exhibition space, community center, or similar cultural venue
  • Have a focus on “hands on, sensorial, object-based” experience
  • Have pedagogical value that is relevant to the student’s program of study
  • Be noncredit
  • Minimum of 20 hours per week
  • International internships are eligible for a Cravens Fund

APPLICATION COMPONENTS

In order to be eligible for a Cravens fund, applicants needs to complete the following:

  • Be accepted for a summer internship at a site that meets the eligibility criteria above
  • Complete the application, including a personal statement and internship description
  • A resume
  • All the paperwork must be submitted to the Office of Career Services by March 15th

SELECTION PROCESS
  • Cravens funding will be awarded competitively based on project merit, personal statement, and financial need
  • Applications should be submitted to the Office of Career Services
  • The art history faculty will review applications and select awardees

AWARDS
  • Selected students will receive a stipend of $3,500 ($2,700 at the beginning of the internship, and the remaining $800 at the conclusion of the internship).

FUND REQUIREMENTS
  • Complete the internship
  • Both the intern and the internship supervisor will be asked to submit an evaluation form
  • Student will give a public presentation to the SLC Community during the academic year following the conclusion of the internship
  • Student can only receive a Cravens Internship Award once
