THE AMERICAN-RUSSIAN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE 10TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION IN NEW YORK

The American-Russian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ARCCI) announces its 10th Anniversary Gala Reception in New York featuring the winners of the ARCCI’s 3rd Golden Galaxy Awards. The reception will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2002 at 6:30 pm at the Consulate General of the Russian Federation, 9 East 91st Street, New York, NY 10128.

Event will be co-hosted by the Consul General of the Russian Federation in New York Honorable Viacheslav A. Pavlovskiy and Founder and President of the American-Russian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (headquartered in Chicago) Helen Teplitskaia. Information support provided by the U.S. Commerce Department Business Information Service for the Newly Independent States (BISNIS) and the office of the Trade Representation of the Russian Federation in New York.

The event is targeted to senior executives of the U.S. companies interested in U.S.-Russian trade & investment, government officials, and leaders of professional/trade associations.

In conjunction with the 10th Anniversary celebration, the ARCCI will host the delegation from Russia led by the Governor of Arkhangelskaya Oblast Anatoly A. Efremov, Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Hakassiya Alexei I. Lebed and Member of the Federation Council (Senator) Ludmila B. Narusova.

The ARCCI Board of Directors has instituted the Golden Galaxy Awards to facilitate U.S.-Russian trade and investment and promote US and Russian enterprises demonstrating outstanding performance in quality manufacturing, management, implementation of advanced technologies, efficient use of natural resources and sustainable development.

Anatoly Efremov, Governor of Arkhhangelskaya Oblast

Arkhangelskaya Oblast - Located in the Northern European part of Russia, this region is one of the nation’s leaders in forestry, wood processing, paper and cellulose production; oil and gas extraction, raw material mining, including diamonds and copper; and fisheries. This region features the well developed defense industrial complex, the only European space launch center, numerous shipyards, and offers efficient transportation via air, ground (rail and road), and marine. Open year round, the Arkhangelsk sea port is one of Russia’s major transportation hubs.

Alexei Lebed, Chairman of the Government of Republic of Hakassiya

Republic of Hakassiya – Autonomous republic within the Russian Federation, located in Eastern Siberia. One of the nation’s leaders in oil and gas extraction; raw material mining, including gold, silver, iron ore, coal, copper, and molybdenum; construction materials – marble, granite, sands, construction stones and clays; and semi-precious stones. In addition to fuel industry, the region specializes in electric power generation; color metallurgy (one of the largest aluminum producers in Russia); machine building and metal processing; light industry; wood processing and furniture manufacturing; food processing; microbiological industry; and mechanical engineering.

Itera Group of Companies. Established in 1992, Itera has transformed from a commodities trader into a major independent gas producer and supplier in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). Approximately 80% of Itera’s business is in the production, transportation and marketing of natural gas. The Itera group comprises more than 130 companies engaged in energy, metal, construction, chemical and other sectors of the economy in Russia, CIS and the Baltic states. Itera has business interests in 24 countries and employs more than 8,000 people. Itera exports 80 billion cubic meters of natural gas. Itera’s proven natural gas reserves are estimated at 2.2 trillion cubic meters.

Nobel Oil: One of the major oil producers in Russia. The leader in Russian oil production utilizing thermal technology, Nobel Oil develops complex equipment designed to provide an efficient system of steam cyclic treatments (SCT), capable of producing and injecting in formation at depths of 1400 meters and between 320-330C.

Polar Lights Company: Polar Lights is a joint venture between Conoco, Arkhangelskegologia and Rosneft. Annual production of oil – about 14 million barrels. In 1994 and 1998 Polar Lights was recognized for its environmental achievements as having the best application of advanced environmental technologies in the harsh polar climate of the Nenets Region.

Tatneft (Arkhangelsk branch): Headquartered in Almetyevsk, Tatarstan, Tatneft is one of the leading oil companies in Russia involved in exploration and development of oil fields, oil processing and sale of oil products, manufacturing of metal/plastic pipes, tires, and cables.

Econika Corporation: In business since 1989, Econika is a diversified corporation that operates in a variety of industries including:

Econika Footwear - Development, production of four exclusive brands;

Econika Techno- Manufacturing of industrial equipment for multiple spheres of activity, including equipment under its own trademark MAKAR;

Econika Flax- Utilizing its own source of materials, this division creates and markets a wide range of flax products.

Grumant Flot: Ship design, manufacturing and exploitation. Grumant Flot’s newest innovation is manufacturing of M-class energy efficient trawlers.

Kyshtumsky Mechanical Engineering Plant: Founded in 1757, this enterprise is a major exporter of mining and drilling equipment and instruments. MEP is a producer of pneumatic drills utilized in hydro-technical construction and hydro-electrical power stations.

Lumber Enterprise N3: Founded in 1881 and nominated as the “Best Timber Exporter in 2002” in Russia, this enterprise manufactures and exports a wide variety of lumber and industrial chips.

Livensk Plant of Submersible Pumps (LPSP): In business for more than 30 years, LPSP is a “Leader of Russian Economy” based on production growth and selling rate. LPSP’s production of submersible pumps exceeds 135,000 since production began in 1992. LPSP is a market leader in manufacturing pumps for Russia's oil, gas and power generation industries.
