Purpose: To distribute the current national material and Alabama supplements for Chapters 1, 2, and 3.
Effective Date: Upon receipt.
Filing Instructions:
Remove and discard all material for Chapters 1, 2, and 3. File the enclosed current material for these chapters.
The tabulation sheet for the Engineering Field Handbook – State Supplements. File the tabulation sheet and Amendment AL1 transmittal sheet in the front of the Handbook.
State Supplements - Chapter 2 already contains the following Alabama supplements correctly located in the national material:
- Page AL-i(i) - The Table of Contents for Chapter 2 Alabama Supplements.
- Page AL-2-15(1) - Figure AL2-1. Alabama Rainfall Distribution Types, dated February 2004.
- Pages AL-2-16(1 and 2) - Table AL2-1. Alabama Rainfall (inches) – Frequency for 24-hour Periods, and Pages AL-2-16(3 thru 8) - Table AL2-2. Average Monthly Precipitation (RF) and Evaporation (EVPA),dated February 2004.
- Page AL-2-84-(1) - Table AL2-3. Rainfall – Runoff Relation, dated February 2004.
All supplements listed as “Alabama Engineering Field Manual” (there may be some of these in the front of your Engineering Field Handbook) are cancelled. Please remove and discard them. They will be listed Handbook Notice AL-##. The national supplements are current and should be maintained.
PLEASE NOTE: This is the first of several amendments to the Engineering Field Handbook (EFH) to incorporate AL supplements. Once the EFH is fully supplemented, the Alabama Engineering Field Design Manual will be cancelled to eliminate the necessity of keeping up two technical references. All the state material will be filed with the national material and not in a separate document.
