RESOLUTIONS OF
THE 9TH MCG DENOMINATIONAL CONFERENCE
- RESOLUTION ON YOUNG MEN MUTUAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM
1.1.OBJECTIVES
- Educating young men
- Mentorship
- Encouraging healthy life styles to young men
- Provision of life skills to young men
1.2.TARGET
Ages between 12 and 22
1.3.RESOURCING
MCG to include the program in its budget
1.4.CHAMPION
- Get Chaplain with four people to work with to champion the program.

1.5.BENEFITS
- Prepare young boys for manhood.
- Will ensure the growth of the MCG and the church.
- Will ensure the growth and increase of men in the church.
- Provide religious education to young people at an early age.
- Address issues of rape and teenage pregnancy.
- Continuity and consistency in the work of the church.
- Prepare young people for stewardship.
1.6.The document is duly adopted for distribution to Presbyteries.
- RESOLUTIONS FINANCE AND STEWARDSHIP
- SALE OF PROMOTIONAL ITEMS
That only the Denominational Conference can sell at its conferences.
That DVD be produced at the Denominational Conference and be sold.
That partnership be entered into with Presbyteries for sale of items.
2.2.PRESIDENTIAL DINNER
That the dinner be held at key cities for the next five years, i.e. Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg, Port Elizabeth, East London and Polokwane.
2.3.TARGETTED PROJECTS
That we should identify community projects based on their needs, and source donor funding for them, in a manner that will also benefit the MCG.
That Presbyteries be clustered for some of the projects.
2.4.INVESTMENTS
That we should consider long term endowment investments for 10 years.
2.5.SPONSORSHIPS
That we should source sponsorships for our conferences.
2.6.SALE OF CONFERENCE PACKAGES
That conference packages should not be for free, but that delegates should pay for them.
2.7.AFFILIATION FEE
That affiliation fee for members be R100,00
2.8.PRESBYTERIAL DUES
That Presbyteries be obliged to pay all their dues.
2.9.THINKING COMMITTEE
That a thinking Committee be put in place which will comprise of people with marketing and entrepreneurial skills.
- RESOLUTION ON BUILDING THE GUILD
3.1.PROBLEM OF BREAKAWAY GROUPS
That a problem to capacitate Ministers to equal the task of union be put in place.
That a message should come out of Central Office about the recognised associations.
That the MCG should approach the dialogue with open minds.
That the basis of the engagement should be for the breakway groups to come back to the MCG.
That the letter signed by the Presidents of the associations should be widely circulated in the church.
3.2.HIV/AIDS
That the MCG should appoint HIV/AIDS Coordinators at all levels who should be part of the Executive Committees.
That a training manula be developed on the MCG approach to HIV/AIDS.
That MCG members should start being involved in programs such as home based care, awareness, etc and report to Presbyteries.
3.3.DENOMINATIONAL CONFERENCE
That the date of the denominational conference should remain the first weekend of September and that this date should not be changed under any circumstance.
3.4.VACANT POSITION OF DEPUTY PRESIDENT
That the decision the DEC to accept the resignation of Rev Gwala and appoint Rev Mkentane to act as Deputy President is condoned.
That the recommendation of the Council to appoint Rev Mkentane as Deputy President is carried.
That the recommendation of Council for the appointment of Bro H Xaso as an additional member is carried.
That the recommendation of Council for the development of a document to deal with and direct our structures on administrative issues regarding the functioning of our structures.
3.5.TIYO SOGA MEMORIAL LECTURE
That the request of Central Cape to host the Tiyo Soga Memorial lecture for the first three years is granted.
3.6.COMMUNICATION
That there should be a bold line communication with Presbyteries and a dotted line communication with branches.
3.7.WHITE MEMBERS
That Presbyteries must develop programs that will attract white members to the MCG.
That we should create fellowship meetings with our white counter parts to share ideas.
- MANUAL OF FAITH AND ORDER
- That the chapter which affirms membership in the Church manual should also affirm the existence of associations.
- That under general governance of the church, mention must be made of associations as they also consist of structures.
- That there should be a chapter on associations which include the following;
- Definition of an association.
- Role of associations
- Complete structure and role of the Church Associations Committee.
- Constitution of the church associations.
- Establishment of an association.
- Status of associations in church councils like General Assembly, Presbyteries, Sessions.
- MORALITY
The document as recommended by Council was approved with the following additions;
5.1.That MCG members should be exemplary in society and preach about abstinence from drugs and abuse of women, children and alcohol.
5.2.That we should link our morality program with the work of the ethics committee at central office.
5.3.That the MCG should establish support groups of the victims of abuse.
5.4.That we should do marriage and family enrichment programs to sustain Christian living.
5.5.That the report be referred to Presbyteries for implementation.
- LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT INSTITUTE
- The document as prepared by the DEC was approved with the following additions;
- Each Presbytery should have a structure to coordinate our training programs instead of focussing on one Presbytery for a pilot.
- That training should be done for all the Presbytery Coordinators/facilitators.
- That the teachings of John Calvin should be coupled with the teaching of other African theologians.
- That leadership skills should be included as one of the modules to ensure that our leaders demonstrate good leadership skills.
- That a module on morality and humanity should also be included to ensure that we have a leadership which leads by example.
- That focus should be put on reskilling the current leadership.
- That the LDI should work with relevant desks/committees such as the Ministry Committee to develop the training manuals.
- ROLE OF EVANGELISTS
- The document as presented was adopted.
- That we should identify evangelists who are already in the denomination and especially in the MCG.
- That conference should develop policy on Education, Training and Development of Evangelists.
- That the MCG should work to improve the work of evangelists.
- HIV/AIDS
That the Conference should consider setting up a committee to deal with HIV/AIDS.
