Course description/objectives:

Congratulations, you have taken the opportunity to enroll in an introductory agricultural course. I hope you take full advantage of your time and the resources available to you to make this a meaningful experience. The course will follow the state standards for Agriculture Science III/IV and will include Supervised Agricultural Experience, Leadership/ FFA, public speaking, advanced leadership development, FFA committee work, communications, business and marketing, wildlife and natural resources, animal science, plant science, and soil science. You will be awarded half of a science credit upon successful completion of this course.

1.  Pencil/ Pen

2.  Jump Drive

3.  Notebook

Class Rules:

1.  Respect others right to learn

2.  Respect the teachers right to teach

3.  Use class time to study class materials, not homework from another class

4.  Arrive to class on time or you will be marked tardy

5.  No food, drink, or gum chewing allowed during labs

6.  All school rules will apply in the classroom

7.  Learn, be safe, and have fun

Progressive Discipline Plan

I understand that if I choose not to follow all class rules including the above I can expect…

First time = Verbal Warning (unless school rule is broken)

Second time = Class Detention or Referral

Third time = Teachers discretion (parent phone call, Referral, etc

Fourth time = There won’t be a fourth time!!!

Grading Scale:

Each student will begin the course with an A. It is their responsibility to maintain that grade. The accumulation of points throughout the semester will determine your grade. Points will come from the following categories and letter grades will be based on the following percentages:

Summative (Tests & Projects)…………………………………………70%

Formative (Daily Assignments)………………………………………..30%

Make up work:

  1. For all assignments that are given during the same unit of instruction, make up work is accepted
  2. After we have moved on to our next unit, make up work from any previous unit is not accepted
  3. District policy states that students will have two days for every day they are absent to make up their work. Assignments will be scored as incomplete ”I” until the work has been made up

Assessment Re-Test Opportunities:

  1. You are allowed to make up any quiz or test at any time if you complete the supplementary assignment
  2. Supplementary assignments will be based on the previous unit of instruction

Progress Reports and Report Cards:

Students and parents are expected to use their access to PowerSchool to check on their progress. Printed progress reports may be requested for those students who do not have computer access at home. Report Cards/Progress Reports will be mailed out the week following the end of the nine weeks. Credit will be given at the end of each semester at one half credit per semester.

I am excited that your son/daughter has taken the opportunity to study the field of agriculture and its many and varied careers. To make this complete experience, I encourage each student to enroll in the FFA program and take the advantage of all the training and travel it has to offer.
