About the Speakers and Performers:
Peter Carroll, Senior Consultant Architect, has a special interest in conservation and heritage issues and works in the Building Consulting Group, ESB International.
Martin Chappell is Head of the Dept. of Languages and Cultural Studies, University of Limerick. He lectures in French and in Film Studies.
Dr Ron Cox is Research Fellow of Trinity College Dublin and Director of the Centre for Civil Engineering Heritage at TCD.
Brendan Delany is Archive & Heritage Manager in ESB.
Paul Duffy works in Forensic and Litigation Engineering and is author of several publications on the Shannon Scheme.
Prof. Jürgen Elvert is Professor of History and the Didactics of History in the Faculty of Education at the University of Cologne, Germany.
Prof. Wilfried Feldenkirchen is Professor of Economic History at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg and Academic Director of the Siemens Archives, Munich.
Dr Joachim Fischer is Senior Lecturer in German and Joint Director, Centre for Irish German Studies at the University of Limerick.
Justin Keating is a former Labour Minister and Senator and son of Sean Keating.
Michael McCarthy is a journalist and author; he published several articles on social conditions during the building of the Shannon Scheme.
Dr Mark Maguire published on anthropological aspects of the Shannon Scheme and lectures in the Dept. of Anthropology in the Dublin Business School.
Gerald O’Beirne retired as Senior Manager, Power and Automatics Division from Siemens in 1995 and is author of Siemens in Ireland 1925-2000 (Dublin: Farmar).
Dr Desi Wilkinson holds a PhD from the Irish World Music Centre at the University of Limerick. He is an acclaimed flute player and has recorded several CDs.
Attendance at the Conference is free. However, since places are limited for some of the events registration for the conference is advised to secure a place.
