Report of the Association Manager

To the Council of Delegates in Annual Session:

Ladies and Gentlemen:

The 2011-2012year was a year of improvement for the Indiana State USBC BA.This was accomplished through continued expense control and improvements in participation in our tournament offerings. The organization continued to conduct all tournaments and the State Jamboree for the USBC bowlers of Indiana.

President Brian Nunning guided the board as objectives were being addressed through the Strategic Plan.

A Strategic Plan objective of redesigning the website was accomplished along with the IS USBC BA establishing a social media site through face book. is the website address. The face book address is

IS USBC BA Communications Manager, Tom Baxter has assumed the role of webmaster and spearheaded the redesign team for the web site and initiated the Face book site for us.

Of special note is the retirement of two long service volunteers, Past Presidents/Hall of Fame Members, Gene Coleman and Jim Mansfield have asked to be relieved of there positions. Mr. Coleman and Mr. Mansfield served the bowlers of Indianawith distinction for over thirty years each. They will be missed.

The Indiana State Open Championship was hosted by the Fort Wayne BA. The Fort Wayne BA board of directors led by Pat Webster and Bill McAbee, coordinated the host association support to conduct a successful tournament.

The Open Championship Tournament received 802 team entries which is anincrease of 61 teams from 2011. Increases were also experienced in the in all Handicap and Actual events.

At the 2012 Open Championship Tournament the IS USBC BA continued with lane redressing between squads and the USBC White Dressing Pattern.

The Masters Tournament washosted in Anderson at Coopers Sports Bowl. The Anderson BA board of director’s led by Bill Kendall and Lionel Stewartprovided support for IS USBC BA tournament Manager, Jeff Circle in conducting a successful tournament.

The Open Masters Tournament was rescheduled do to the Super Bowl activities in Indianapolis but experienced no loss in participation.

The IS USBC BA initiated a trial Masters format titled the Indiana Scratch Classic. The Indiana Scratch Classic was conducted in Lafayette with IS USBC BA Tournament Manager, Jeff Circle. We had participation of 79 individuals in this increased game format which was very promising for a first year roll out.

We appreciated the support from the Lafayette USBC and Mike Aulby’s Arrowhead Bowl.

A trial Women’s only Minors format was attempted in January 2012 but did not meet the minimum number of entries to conduct the tournament. The board wishes to conduct in January 2013 with better communications and location selections.

The Senior Singles Tournament was hosted byHenry County USBC. The Henry CountyUSBC board of directors was led by Karl Niles and Gene Neal.We had 1525 bowlers in the singles a decrease of 44 over 2011and 399 sets of doubles which was a decrease of 14teams over 2011.The team event received 60 team entrieswhich was an increase of 1team over 2011.

Over all we experienced increased participation in all of our tournament offerings. We hope this trend continues.

The 2013 IS USBC BA Tournaments will be hosted as follows: IS USBC BA Open Championship Tournament – Lafayette USBC. IS USBC BA Senior SinglesTournament – Gr. HamiltonCountyUSBC. IS USBC BA Open Masters Championship Tournament –Anderson BA. The IS USBC BA Open Indiana Classic Tournament – Lafayette USBC. The IS USBC BA Staff is looking forward to seeing you in those host cities.

As previously announced, the IS USBC BA board of directors has approved a women’s only minor’s event tournament as a test tournament for 2013. This tournament will be conducted in January 2013. Site location will be announced in October.

The 2014 tournament city locations will be announced in December of 2012

The Indiana State Jamboree was held in the District3, hosted in Warsaw. William Cox was onsite coordinator for the event and the District Jamboree committee did a fine job. The Indiana State USBC BA appreciates all the efforts made by the District 3associations in hosting a great jamboree.

District 1 will host the 2012Jamboree in Indianapolis. Brian Petrey, District Director is the onsite coordinator; the associations of the District 1have been planning this event.

THE DATE FOR THE ANNUAL MEETING WILL BE JUNE 28, 29 and 30, 2013
