There have been a number of club events over the past few months. Leven members enjoyed a great deal of success and more importantly had a great time with their fellow riders and club members

A big thank you to all our members who assisted in painting the show jumping poles. We had a combined day with the NWSJ club and now the poles look great. Those members were Sabrina, Sue, Karen, Georgia, Kath, Rachael, Lillie, Jaada, Georgie, Sharon, Amy, Jane, Leslie.

Thanks to NWSJ members for their contribution

Inglis ODE 17th Oct

Our first event for the season

We had 4 riders at this event; Monique and Rachael were competing in the Green and Gold for the first time, with Britney competing in her first ODE and Georgia the great campaigner. Our support crew was fantastic, with Lillie and Georgie, Kath, Rachael and Jaada and Will, and of course all the loyal and devoted parents!!!!!!

There were many nerves at cross country time and Karen spent a bit of time trying to induce some bravery into the team. Britney’s famous line when in the start box………”ok Britney 20seconds”……………………….Britney’s reply “20 seconds til I die”……………so Karen had 20seconds to come up with the bravery pill!!! Needless to say Britney cleared the jump she was so scared of and went off to do a great ground. All girls and ponies were awesome, placings Grade 4- Monique and Sharkani.2nd, Georgia and Shadow 3rd. Grade 5- Rachael and Molly 5th Britney and TC 6th

Kentish Combined Training 24th Oct

We had one member riding for Leven at Kentish and again putting on the green and gold for the first time –Amy Burton and Cleo. Amy had a great day placing 2nd in Dressage and 1st in the 60/65cm Show jumping. Well done Amy, thanks for waving the green and gold flag

Our Warnock Shield was scheduled for the 1st Nov however due to a few days of solid rain leading up to the day we had to postpone due to the ground being too wet and unsafe. We have rescheduled for the 9th January 2011. See you all there; we will set up on the Saturday 8th.

circular Head Shield 14th Nov

After Bec had picked up Georgia and her evil horse, Bec, Georgia and Britney were on a mission to get to circular head before the rain got heavier. They met up with Kath, Rachel, Lillie, Jaada and Will at the Circular head club rooms. After getting dry horses out into the wet, we got to go into the warmth of the club rooms and enjoyed some pancakes- thanks Rachael!. That night while some tried to sleep, 3 giggling girls did their best to stay awake, until threatened by Bec with different sleeping arrangements.

After an eventful morning( and 28plaits on TC’s mane), the ribbons and the fun started to flow for the troops. Jumping 50 cm was no problem for Britney and Lillie, who between them won all the ribbons in that ring. Jaada placed in all her saddle classes and Georgia scored well in all the games. Georgie R did well in her saddle classes.

We finished the day in 4th place with Britney winning the ‘Little red” trophy- which is awarded to the Pony with the most points in jumping and games, and also winning Junior Champion. Lillie also had a great day winning Reserve Junior Champion

They had a very enjoyable day, but all came home quite soggy!!

Powranna ODE 5th Dec

At Powranna we only had one rider compete, this was Georgia riding Casey, grade 4. Georgia had only been riding Casey for a week. She started with a nice dressage test, followed by clear rounds show jumping and cross country. Placing 2nd for the day.

FERNPARK SHEILD 12 DEC

We had 7 riders in Burnie, Claire and Jaada in the starters/LR ring, Britney, Lillie and Georgie R in the Pony ring, Amy in the Galloway ring and Georgia in the Hack ring. Claire had a lovely day in her ring finishing with reserve champion starter. Jaada looked just gorgeous in her fancy dress and had smiles all day.

The day was a success for Leven with everyone having lots of fun, the rain held off most of the time, but the ground was a bit wet for games. Not that it stopped our girls from zooming around those corners. Britney and Lillie once again had a lot of success in the 50cm ring. Georgie R placed well in the saddle classes. Georgia and Amy rode in the 80cm jumping, with Amy having some troublewith Cleo “just not in the mood”.

We placed third overall with 77 points which was fantastic. Georgia won Junior Champion on Casey, and is starting to form a nice partnership with her.

Zone Dressage Championships 19th Dec

Well, what a day…………..the rain fell……………….then it fell some more!!! We all got extremely wet, so big thanks to all those people who came to help out.

Well done to Lillie and Sparky who had a go at the Champs for the first time………her first ever dressage test. Good job!

Welcome back to competition for Shelly Smithers, it was great to see her back and do a lovely test on Rosie.

Georgia competed on Casey in C group and placed 4th, and Amy was in B group on Cleo and also placed 4th. Awesome job girls!

-the dressage champs are run in groups according to your age- C group under 14, B group under 17 and A group under 25yrs

The Show jumping Championship section of the day was postponed due to the ground being covered in water and unsafe for competition. We will hold the event in the New Year, probably as a twilight competition. As soon as we have good weather and the ground is firm we will set the date, the zone is aware there will probably not be a lot of notice.

Ditties from the DC

Just to let you all know, at the last zone meeting it was decided that at Ode’s in our Zone, all riders/horses would be allocated their own number. These numbers to be used in the back number holder that you have purchased - or will purchase, when you want to start eventing.

I have sent a list of our riders and their horses’ names and the grade they are jumping, and those combinations will be allocated numbers. If you have two horses you will be allocated two numbers or if you move up a grade you will be allocated another number.

You will keep the numbers in your possession and are responsible for them. Sue deKaste is going to print off the numbers so they are all the same size and font - you will receive them for a small fee.

All events will still go in draw order, you just won’t be in number order, so you will need to print off the draws for each event so you know who you are following.

Numbers will be printed on A4 paper and I would suggest you cover it with contact or place in a plastic sleeve then put in the number holder and leave it there.

Remember this does not apply to events in the other zones.

Clear as mud!!! Great!!

As there are a lot of Ode’s coming up, remember to read the program carefully for entering instructions. Some clubs are now doing pay before the day, so you will need to send a cheque to the club. Some may want you to enter through the DC. Either way if you enter any events please let me know through email that you have entered. It is the responsibility of DC’s to know that their riders are entered in the correct grade, and not putting themselves in danger. It’s also just nice to know 

The website has been updated with pictures from our pole painting and the rally where we tried out polocrosse. Please send me your photos so I can put them on the website. Please print off your pictures from events and put them on the board in the club rooms, it could use some updated pics.

I hope you all a safe and happy Christmas and enjoy a lovely time with your families. Let’s hope 2011 is a great year for everyone.

Karen

Thanks to Britney and Georgia for their help putting this newsletter together
