Meeting Minutes for March 8th, 2018

Thank you to all those that attended the meeting!

Quick note— The coaches have been getting complaints about many of the baseball players speeding in the area around the school and the field. Please have a word with your player if they are driving to and from practice.

Key Dates/Fees:

3/1/18 $600 -Spring Fees Due(No Rockies Tickets - see Fundraising)

  • Summer Deposit will be reimbursed to those players that do not make a spring team
  • Wood bat will be used during Continental League play for Freshman, Sophomore and JV games.
  • A link for discounted bats will be available shortly

3/1/18 Drinks - Each level must drop off a case of drinks for the concession stand

  • Freshmen - Case of 16 oz. Water
  • Sophomore - Case of 12 oz. Coke Product (Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Mr. Pibb, etc.)
  • JV - Case of 12 oz. Coke Product
  • Varsity - Case of 20 oz. Gatorade (assorted)

6/1/18Summer Fees Due in Full

  • 15U - $1400 - $250 Deposit = $1150 balance
  • 16U - $1400 - $250 Deposit = $1150 balance
  • 17U - $1600 - $250 Deposit = $1350 balance
  • 18U - $2500 - $250 Deposit = $2250 balance

Spring Season:

  • Schedules are being finalized and will be posted on the website soon.
  • MaxPreps only allows 3 teams per school on their site. Varsity, JV and Freshman will be on there.
  • All 4 teams will be on GameChanger
  • Coaches are NOT allowed any contact with players or parents on Sundays, CHSAA rules.
  • Please allow yourself 24 hours before contacting the coaches after games if it involves discussing playing time.
  • All communication about practice and game times is given by the coaches to players.
  • In case of cancellations, players will be notified by coaches, an email will be sent out and an update will be posted on the website
  • Make sure you are signed up for the email distribution list
  • Varsity games will be rescheduled first, the team has to play 19 games to qualify for State playoffs.
  • Then JV, Sophomore and Freshman games will be rescheduled based on field availability
  • Varsity will be traveling to Arizona for a tournament during Spring Break.3/19-3/25/18. Southwest airfare $356 per playerdue 3/5/2018.

  • All away games have bus transportation to and from the school. Exceptions will be made in emergency situations if players are unable to travel with the team
  • Each team is allowed to play 19 games during the spring season, this includes league and non-league games.
  • Each team will get one night game played at GameDay fields under the lights.
  • Wood Bats: All league and conference games for Freshman, Sophomore and JV teams are wood bat only. The non-league/conference games still allow aluminum bats.
  • JV, Sophomore and Freshman will have an end of season 3 game tournament,beginning May 4th.Castle View will host the JV tournament.
  • Teams will practice at CV baseball field, CV softball field, Paintbrush fields.
  • Grades— If players have 1 F they will be ineligible for one week. Coaches receive an attendance and grade report every week from the school
  • Concessions:
  • Please go to thecastleviewbaseball.comsite and sign up for concessions, grill master, scoreboard or announcer on the signup genie lists. Please sign up for at least 2 spots.
  • Sharon Tschudy has graciously signed up to be the resource for the Sophomore level. We would greatly appreciate someone stepping up for the Varsity, JV and Freshman levels as well.

Summer Ball:

  • SaberCat Diamond Club is still planning on having 4 teams this summer
  • 18U

  • Yellow
  • With respect to the incoming Freshman Yellow team, the first 15-16 players to sign up will have a spot on the team. We are unable to hold tryouts earlier due to CHSAA rules.
  • Please note that summer fees above cover travel costs for Varsity only. Other teams will be responsible for covering certain travel costs for out of town/sate games.
  • Schedules will be out as soon as possible.

  • Florida/TCU? (still debating on which tournament)
  • We need to know who is going to play. Tournaments need to be paid for soon and travel arrangements need to be secured.
  • If players want to play through another summer program, it will have no bearing on what team your player makes in the spring for CV.

Fundraising:

  • Banners :
  • Jim Spencer has volunteered to be in charge of our Banner program, if you are interested in helping please contact the booster club.
  • Our outfield fence needs to be covered in ads. Lots of new businesses at the Outlets now.

  • Brick Fundraiser(Year round):
  • CV Logo at baseball field is now complete. Purchase Legacy bricks oncastleviewbaseball.comwebsite.
  • SnapRaise
  • Simple....player sends 20 emails for donations.
  • Goal is $20,000 this year.
  • What Fund raising pays for:
  • Field upgrades
  • Facility upgrades
  • BusTransportation
  • Uniforms
  • Maintenance Equipment
  • Concession Stands Products—meat, buns, candy, condiments, etc.
  • Proposed changes to dugouts has been approved by the district. The cost to extend the dugouts is $4700 and will be covered by the SaberCat Diamond Club. Thanks to all who have been helping on the field this fall.

Additional Notes:

•SaberCat Diamond Club will provide option to use PayPal but you will be responsible for the PayPal's 2.9% surcharge which we will add in, we are looking into the "Friend" option that would be a reduced surcharge.

•Once season starts, we will need 1 person from each level to be responsible for coordinating concessions

•Once season starts, we will need someone to coordinate team dinners to be held in Commons Area of CVHS

•Once season starts, we will need people to help Julie Witonsky plan the end of season banquet.

•There will be SignUpGenius signups for Concessions, scoreboard, etc. Each family is expected to signup at least once
