“Change Happens: Are You Up For It?”

February 7-8, 201 ∙ Westin Hotel, Lake Mary

Felicia Logan, Director of Leadership Development at ICMA will facilitate a series of intensive conversations on the inevitability of change and its impact on managers, local government organizations and communities. Participants will be challenged to think about personal change as an imperative for effective professional leadership and leading change within organizations and communities. Conversations will focus upon the responsibilities and roles local government leaders have in guiding organizational and community change into an unknown future.

The first conversation segment, led by Provocateur Joe Coury of Joe Coury Effective Strategies, will open with the question: As a local government manager, how do you show up each day? Joe will cover disciplines of leadership and confront participants to think about how they define and manage their role as a leader in ways that are good for them personally and reflect well on the organization and community.

Provocateur Deidre McNab, President of the Florida League of Women Voters will lead the second conversation segment by sharing the transformational story of the League of Women Voters and posing the question: As a leader of organizational culture and change, how do you step up? Participants will be focusing upon strategies for promoting cultural and organizational change and building an organization of strong leaders.

A conversation on leading with ethics and innovation will be directed by Provocateur Joe Masurkiewicz of B.J.M. Consulting beginning with the question: How do you stay up as a leader and a manager? As a former Mayor of Cape Coral, Joe has experienced first-hand the importance of stability and assuring a good fit in local government leadership with community expectations.

Facilitator Felicia Logan will bring the conversations full circle and guide attendees in developing a personal action plan of “take aways” from the institute.
