Terms and Conditions

  • The Loan Box scheme is available free of charge to schools and colleges throughout the UK.
  • Requests for Loan Boxes are subject to availability. Bookings are confirmed after the receipt of your completed booking form.
  • Loan Boxes must be booked at least 3 weeks ahead of the loan period and can only be booked up to two terms in advance; schools will only be able to request one Loan Box per academic year.
  • The loan period will be between 3-4 weeks during one of the three school terms. This may be extended to cover 1 or 2 weeks more by prior arrangement with Parliament’s Education Service, and only on the basis that it is not requested by another party.
  • An identified member of staff must be available to take delivery of the Loan Box. A named member of staff must also be responsible for the safe keeping of the Loan Box and its contents during the Loan Period; this can be more than one person.
  • Delivery and collection will be to the school Reception or Office unless otherwise arranged. Please check the contents of the boxes upon delivery against the inventory included within the box. If any objects are missing or broken, please notify us within three working days of receipt.
  • Loan objects must be risk assessed by the teacher and used under their supervision. We advise that they are stored safely and not left unattended. It is the responsibility of the teacher to unpack and repack the box.
  • Please report any breakages straight away on 0207 219 4647. You may be charged for breakages or loss of items.
  • Hirers agree to have all loan objects boxed and ready for collection on the day agreed. Failure to have the Loan Box ready for collection may result in an administration cost when arranging a new collection date.
  • During the loan period the Loan Box should only be used to teach about Parliament and the work of its Members. If your group wish to use the contents of the Loan Box for any other event or purpose please contact Parliament’s Education Service’ Outreach Team for further permissions.
  • The Houses of Parliament retain the rights to all images included in the Loan Boxes; reproduction of the images is permitted when used for educational purposes.
  • Parliament’s Education Service reserve the right to cancel any booking if the correct forms are not returned ahead of the loan period or if there is a reduction in the number of available Loan Boxes due to damage or loss incurred during Loans to other sites.
