About our Services
OAK Community ServicesOne of the ongoing challenges for Tasmanians with a disability (and their caregivers) is to create opportunities for enriching life experience and meaningful interaction with the community on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.OAK Community Services was designed specifically with this great need in mind.
Our activities range from practical skill development and personal growth to recreation and artistic expression… from day trips to the beach or to a wildlife park. This creates variety plus stability, with a deep undercurrent of encouragement and sense of belonging for all involved. Our programs tap into groups of all ages, interests and abilities. / OAK Transition to Work
The Transition to Work Service is a new program of OAK Tasmania that addresses the issues raised by the National Disability Insurance Scheme – ie that people with disability should be encouraged to seek some form of employment.
The Transition to Work service is a program which achieves employment opportunities for people with disability. The program develops a person’s skills and/or qualifications needed to successfully secure and sustain employment. The Program provides services to people with a range of support needs and who desire to be involved in the workforce.
The program also delivers accredited training through OAK Training and Development Services (RTO 1098). Our programs develop potential by improving pathways to further education, employment and lifelong learning through the delivery of Business and Information, Digital Media & Technology programs
OAK Residential Services
OAK Residential currently has three supported-living homes, each of which house a small group of individuals requiring minimal (but consistent) support
With each household, we seek to match individuals based on their overall readiness as well as genuine compatibility with others in the house. Our fundamental aim is to build lasting communities of mutual support, companionship and shared responsibility
OAK Respite
At OAK Tasmania, we honour the role that family and caregivers play – giving beyond measure in seen and unseen ways. We also know how easy it can be to postpone or sacrifice personal balance whilst ensuring the well-being of a loved one.
The purpose of OAK Respite is to help balance the scales! We provide a host of genuine, enlivening social opportunities for people with disabilities, with the simultaneous aim of supporting the primary caregivers.
