DEAR PARENTS/CARERS,

Thank you for all your support this term.

We’ve had a very busy spring term and the children are beginning to develop strong learning behaviours that are enabling them to make good progress in their learning. Of course we still have a full term to go – exactly a third of a year where we’ll be looking to ensure the skills the children have developed are embedded and extended.

We sadly say goodbye to Alan Bourn today our premises manager at both the old Ashmount site and here. Alan has put in seven years of sterling work and effort and will be fondly missed by children, staff and parents. We wish him an enjoyable retirement and will hopefully see him back at our annual events during the school year.

We also say Au Revoir and goodbye to Anna who will begin her maternity leave tomorrow and we hope to see a new arrival at school in due course.

Have a restful Easter break.

WEAR A HAT DAY

Todayalong with members of charities, fund raising groups and supporters we raised money for Brain Tumour Research by encouraging everyone at school to ‘Wear a Hat’. Thank you to everyone who supported this charity and in the next Newsletter we will let you know how much we collected.

Ashmount's footballers ventured south to Crystal Palace National Sports Stadium to represent Islington in the London Youth Games. The annual event which is seen as the Olympic games for children saw Ashmount competing against all the other 32 London boroughs.

ASHMOUNT AT THE YOUTH GAMES

Theteams were placed in groups of 4, and Ashmount were in fine form topping their group with a 1-0 win (Jordan) over St James Hatcham from Lewisham,2-0 victory (Jordan and Han), against Fox Primary from Kensington and Chelsea and then a 0-0 draw with Our Lady of Lourdes Primary from Enfield.

From there thefinal 16 were again allocated into another group of 4 to determine a quarter final spot. Our first two games did not go to plan and effectively knocked us out of the competition as we went down 1-0 to Sacred Heart from Barnet and The Breakspear Academy from Hillingdon. With heads down itwas a matter of picking the boys up and trying to ensure a top 10 finish. This they did as theboys responded brilliantly and recorded a 2-0 (Rufus and Jordan) win against Millbank Academy from Westminster.

The win ensured we finished joint9th and ended a very good day on a high for the boys, who drew lots of plaudits from spectators and officials.

Squad :- Dylan, Olajuwon, Zak, Jordan, Han, Adam, Stephane and Rufus
