Dear Mr. McLean,
Thank you for your visit to Durban CC and Beachwood in June. On behalf of the members I want to take this opportunity to thank you for playing our two courses I really hope you had an enjoyable outing. Both Sean Fenger – Beachwood Captain and I are where sorry that we could not have joined you on the day but it was great to catch up on Tuesday evening for a drink in the Waterman Bar and officially meet with you and Terry Knight.
We are very proud of our courses and their current conditioning especially with the fact that we have had very little to no rain the past few months or so. Our green keeping staff must be commended for their hard work and effort to deliver such a wonderful product to us member’s week in and week out. As you can see we are and will continue to work on the course having just completed a few projects in the first few months of the year with the big change being the bush removal project on the 8th Hole at Durban CC which has given the player more room and opened up and exposed some historic dune structures on both sides of the hole. Although funding is tight I have the support from the Board and we will continue with our restoration projects and bush removal initiatives together with the help and guidance of our professional consultants as well as constructive feedback from people like yourself. We simple want to get better and better.
Our recent move to 5th in the SA Ratings was a huge statement for us and tangible proof that we are headed in the right direction. I thank you for your continued support of the Durban CC and I welcome you back anytime to visit and play. Next time we will play together and I can pick your brain for more ideas and advice.
