Extended Deadline for Invitation Acceptance

Maldon District Council chairman Cllr Peter Elliott is hosting two receptions for representatives of the Voluntary Sector onboard the Sailing Barge Hydrogen.

Attached are details of the events and an invitation from Cllr Elliott along with a response form for your completion should you wish to attend. The receptions will take place on9th and 10th May. Places will be allocated on a first come basis and are limited to one per organisation.

Please also read the Access Statement attached as the Barge is an historic vessel and there are some access restrictions.

In view of Easter holidays the deadline for responses has been extended toTuesday 25th April 2017.

Maldon District Advice Forum

The next Maldon District Advice Forum will take place on Wednesday 17th May between 2 pm and 4 pm. The Advice Forum is a network of voluntary and community sector organisations that provide information, advice or support to people within the Maldon District. The group exists to encourage information sharing to enhance partnership working, reduce duplication and identify andrespond to areas of local need.

This meeting will include a presentation from Aidan and Fiona from the Department of Work and Pensions on their multi agency approach to supporting job seekers in Mid Essex and Lois from the Lenderhand charity on how they can provide financial assistance to people facing challenging circumstances.

Turncole Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund

Voluntary and community organisations in Southminster and Burnham-on-Crouch are invited to apply for grants to support local projects and activities.

The Turncole Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund was established in 2016 as part of a long-term wind farm development programme in the area.

Essex Community Foundation, an independent charitable trust is managing the Community Benefit Fund and a panel, made up of local residents, will work with ECF to consider applications and agree grants.

The panel is particularly interested in applications which seek to enhance the quality of life of local residents, contribute to vibrant, healthy, successful and sustainable communities and encourage community activity.

The Fund was established to ensure that community-based projects close to the wind farm see a direct financial benefit. The funding is particularly relevant to projects which contribute to the wellbeing of the local area.”

Create and Flourish

Story Becomes Art

As part of the Digging and Delving Project, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, Create and Flourish is offering a 2-hour workshop exploring the themes of a traditional story through art, imagination and conversation.

You don’t have to be an artist to join in; workshops are open to adults of all abilities and are free. Materials are provided. Participants should wear clothes suitable for painting.

The workshop will take place on Sunday 7th May 2017 between 1:30 and 3:30 pm at the Station House, Station Road, Burnham on Crouch CM0 8BQ.

Small Charity Week 2017

Small Charity Week (19th to 24th June) is the biggest event in the small charity calendar providing free initiatives, competitions and support over six days for charities or local community organisations with an annual turnover under £1.5 million.

Events include:

I Love Small Charities Day: Three social media competitions to win funds for your charity.

Big Advice Day:Free advice on any charity topic of your choosing from experts across the sector and business leaders.

Policy Day:Local and national events will be held to support engagement between small charities and policy makers and influencers.

Fundraising Day:Take part in free competitions and initiatives to raise vital funds for your small charity and join events to improve your knowledge on fundraising topics.

Small Charity Big Impact Day:Showcase your small charity and the fantastic impact it makes by applying for the FSI’s Small Charity Big Impact Awards.

Celebration Day:Get involved and run an event to help raise awareness of and celebrate your amazing work.
