SYLLABUS:

Low Intermediate ELL English continues with the four language skills of listening, speaking, reading,and writing. The goal is for students to read longer passages at a higher level and develop well-structured paragraphs. Students utilize the library to research facts for compositions and background information for pieces of literature. Students visit the computer lab to practice grammar using the Plato Learning Environment 2.0.

1st quarter:

Grammar:Figures of speech: nouns; pronouns; verbs including simple present, present progressive, and modals; adverbs of frequency; prepositions;conjunctions; interjections; and punctuation

Reading:What aLifeand Longman American Structural Readers

Writing:Formation of a paragraph

Review: days of the week, months of the year, four seasons, ordinal, and cardinal numbers
