2013 ANNUAL TPF CONVENTION HIGHLIGHTS
The 90th Annual Texas Poultry Federation Convention location changed to San Antonio and was well-received by everyone in attendance. Registration was up by 135 over 2012. Final count had 390 people registered. Friday’s activities included golf, with 56; skeet with 51; and the spouses program with 38. At the TPF board meeting, Morris Hill, Tyson, was elected president. Wesley Carter, Cargill Turkey Production was elected 1st vice president. Vice presidents include: Travis Boatwright, Dr. Kevin Kessler, Reggie Othold, Steve Selman, and Keith Wingert.
Bob Ickes, Cobb-Vantress, was presented the Salesman of the Year Award. S.R. “Pal” Lester was presented the Golden Feather Award. The Darrell Glaser family received the Family Farm Environmental Excellence Award presented by Paul Bredwell, U.S. Poultry & Egg Association.
Thank you to all who participated in the TAPA Scholarship auction either as someone who donated an item or who bid on and/or purchased an item. The auction raised over $35,000. Upcoming events: Texas Broiler Symposium September 24 – 25, Center, TX – golf, skeet, and cookout on the 24th. The Symposium will be held at the Center Convention Center on the 25th.
