District Scholarship Program

Scholarship Specifics

°  Each TFB District, in which applications are received, will award 1-$1200 scholarship and 3-$1,000 scholarships. The $1,200 scholarship may be named as a memorial/honorary in each Texas Farm Bureau District.

°  Scholarships will be awarded $600 or $500 per semester for two semesters, respectively.

Eligibility requirements

°  Must be a graduating High School Senior.

°  Must be a member of a Farm Bureau family. (In accordance with Texas Farm Bureau membership guidelines.) Membership must remain in good standing for the duration of the scholarship.

°  Must include a copy of the applicant’s Official High School Transcript as well as SAT and/or ACT test score report.

°  Please include a wallet sized portrait of yourself with this application. Please print your name and County name on the back of the picture. This picture is for publication purposes and will not be used in the judging process.

°  Must have completed a project that promotes Farm Bureau, or have completed a community service project which promotes agriculture. Listed below are 10 examples of projects for the District Scholarship. The project should demonstrate that the student has “given back” to agriculture or the community. The project may have been completed as part of student’s involvement in 4-H, FFA and other youth programs. (Please be aware this is not an all-inclusive list.)

·  Worked with county Farm Bureau as a facilitator or group leader at an Agriculture in the Classroom or County Ag Fair.

·  Worked with local wildlife biologists to develop habitat.

·  Worked with an equine therapeutic riding program.

·  Worked on County Fair cleanup/preparation.

·  Helped with Texas Farm Bureau - Planet Agriculture.

·  Helped with county Food Check-Out Day project.

·  Helped present programs from the “Mobile Learning Barn” at an event in the county.

·  Recruited students to attend the Texas Farm Bureau Youth Leadership Conference.

·  Spoke at a community event or civic organization to promote agriculture.

·  Spoke on the radio or other public venue to promote agriculture.
